The internship is offered by the Facilities group within the Facilities Management division of Ethicon.  The Facilities Management team supports Ethicon products teams around the world in providing safe, compliant and attractive office and manufacturing areas for its employees. The Internship Program is focused on providing college students with practical knowledge in the area of facilities management with focuses on infrastructural and space management to optimize the employee experience on a daily basis.


The Facilities Maintenance Intern will:

  • Work collaboratively with senior facilities personnel to support ongoing projects.
  • Assist with activities supporting day to day operations in both hard and soft services
  • Participate in ongoing project team meetings including providing updates on projects the intern leads or supports.
  • Be exposed to all critical functions involved with delivering World Class facilities including but not limited to: Mechanical and Electrical infrastructure, Janitorial services, Cafeteria services, Security, Warehouse management and Computer and BMS systems.
  • Utilizing electro mechanical, construction & /or architectural engineering disciplines in support of daily plant operations & for initiation, justification, implementation & follow up of projects within the facilities organization
  • Understanding the systems, equipment, and processes associated with all physical building and utilizing that knowledge in the progression of facilities-related projects and troubleshooting facilities-related issues.

  • Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing BS in Mechanical, Industrial, Civil or related Engineering discipline
  • Candidates must be available to work part-time (up to 20 hours/week).
  • Students who have completed two years of college coursework year will be considered.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the future. 
  • Demonstrated leadership is required.
  • Candidates must be detail-oriented, highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Candidates must have the ability to work individually (independently) as well as on a team
  • Candidates need to be proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel (including a high proficiency with generating pivot tables and graphs), and Power Point, and have strong oral and written communication skills. Additional technical competencies in Sharepoint and other information technology systems are highly desirable, as is experience with PubMed databases and other literature databases.
  • A minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
  • Participation in campus/community service activities is desired.
