The Composite Technician will assist engineers in the development of composites manufacturing processes used in the aviation industry. In this role, you will work in a teaming environment to meet the goals of the manufacturing cell to meet the quality systems, EHS and manufacturing engineering requirements to transition those techniques to high volume production facilities
In addition you will :
+ Perform hand layup, part assembly, and other composite manufacturing processes
+ Operate full scale equipment, such as autoclaves, vacuum ovens, atmospheric furnaces, layup stations and RTM injection / press systems
+ Meet lab operations, quality and EHS training goals
+ Maintain a strong emphasis on environmental, health, and safety issues, and assure assigned areas remain in compliance with all EHS requirements
+ Own assigned lab areas, including maintaining equipment, ordering supplies, dealing with internal customers, and work prioritization
+ Provide leadership in the lean lab by example in work ethic, compliance and safety
+ Perform operations utilizing complex work instructions and specification
+ Provide feedback to the development of turnkey workstations for deployment into Supply Chain shops, including design, prototyping, and validating workstation performance
+ Provide input to work instructions for assigned operations complying with all quality requirements
+ Conduct experiments on assigned processes, working with engineers to develop and document the processing
+ High School Diploma / GED
+ 3 years of experience in manufacturing or engineering (Including functional knowledge of Microsoft Office applications)
Eligibility Requirement :
+ This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
+ Associate's Degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university
+ 5 years of experience in composites manufacturing or engineering
+ Experience with aviation quality systems
+ Ability to work independently with minimum supervision in a team environment
+ Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings / specifications and assure compliance with requirements during processing
+ Strong computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
+ Strong oral and written communication skills
