The Executive Business Director (EBD) will lead Amgen's cross-portfolio selling effort within the Midwest regional market. The EBD will assist with designing and developing the customer engagement model that addresses the unique needs of customers in the geography, and will lead the implementation. The EBD will work cross functionally (especially with the sales, marketing, medical, and access groups) to lead an integrated and collaborative approach to engaging customers that compliantly achieves superior results for both Amgen and our customers.
The Executive Business Director will have the following responsibilities:
Assist with the customer facing strategy development within the selected market including determining necessary roles/responsibilities, organizational structure, team size, targeting, and resource allocation.
Interact with senior leadership among Amgen payer and integrated health system customers to understand the needs of customer organizations, identify engagement opportunities, promote Amgen brands, and negotiate/manage contracts.
Coordinate customer facing activities across therapeutic Business Units, USV&A, Scientific Affairs, and Marketing to support an aligned set of objectives and deepen customer relationships.
Lead sales teams, including identification and hiring of account managers, coaching and performance management; supporting development of goals and compensation for direct team and other customer facing resources in the region, overseeing sales team development and training, and provide strategic direction.
Work with a cross-functional team at Amgen to ensure the selling organization has the support required to be successful, to include working with brand and segment marketing on promotional materials and messages and working with sales operations on modifying and implementing supporting sales planning, reporting, IC, and SFA capabilities.
Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree & 6 years of Marketing experience OR
Master's degree & 10 years of Marketing experience OR
Bachelor's degree & 12 years of Marketing experience AND
6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related discipline
15+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience with a focus on sales and marketing
8+ years of managerial experience with 3+ years of sales management experience
Significant experience in payer or integrated health system sales and key account management
Experience working in a marketing function, preferably focused on payer or system marketing
Strong leadership skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams; direct experience building and leading new sales and marketing teams
Knowledge of the US reimbursement environment
Knowledge and experience in Oncology, Rheumatology, Nephrology, and/or Bone Health therapy areas
Experience working with Medical Science Liaisons, Medical Platform development or KOL engagement is beneficial
