New Mexico based business accelerator is seeking an Executive Director to represent the organization in many contexts. Being effective in these diverse roles is critical to being successful in the position. The Executive Director will be responsible for: -Leading the definition of the curriculum, how it will be delivered and the geographic scope of our operations; Work closely with the Program Director for delivering the curriculum to the cohort, based on best practices from other accelerators, tailored to the sometimes unique conditions of New Mexico. -The Executive Director is the public face of the organization and must be comfortable and effective in conveying the mission of the organization, its methods and a sense of "can do" entrepreneurial enthusiasm; The Executive Director will: engage the public at Demo Day and at workshops; regularly advocate for the organization with City and State Governments, Foundations and Donor groups; and, speak frequently to investors. - The Executive Director is a capable fundraiser and is able to espouse both the public benefits of economic development and the private benefits of providing an opportunity to invest in local talent and ideas at the earliest stages. - The ED , supported by staff and contracted professionals must conduct the business in a highly controlled and accountable fashion. Our companies, our funders and our investors trust us to use and invest their funds to highest and best uses and to meet all regulatory and compliance standards. Additionally, the terms of many of our investors requires us to provide metrics and transparency to the performance of our portfolio companies. Other duties as needed.

Requirements

The successful Executive Director will have: 5+ years experience in guiding startup companies and their teams, either as an entrepreneur, an investor, educator, or other role that frequently interacts with start-up companies; ;Familiarity with modern accelerator and seed investment models both inside the NM community and outside and a willingness to continuously evolve our offerings and scope of operations; A motivational, "entrepreneur friendly" approach to the cohort companies, to the broader NM; Strong public speaking and presentation capabilities in all settings from entrepreneur to investor to public officials; Experience with fund raising, particularly in non-profit environments; Experience as a manager in maintaining high standard accounting and control procedures.; Experience with limited partnerships and fund accounting is an additional advantage Background in Economic Development and/or Tech transfer is ideal.
