Current Need

We are looking for an Executive Director of Program Portfolio Management for our Managed Services (e.g. remote hosting, IT outsourcing, advanced technologies) and EMR (e.g. physician and nursing solutions, revenue cycle, laboratory, radiology) lines of business.

Position Description

Working with the Vice President of EMR/MSO Solution, the incumbent will maintain a strategy formulation and management process that is aligned to in-year and long range planning efforts.  In particular, this role will ensure the product vision is aligned with revenue, EBIT, bookings, and go to market activities across the McKesson Enterprise Information Solutions (EIS) business.  In such, this individual will understand the enterprise business strategy, technology, and financial constraints and work with the Vice President of EMR/MSO solutions in defining and implementing the product strategy.  The successful candidate must be able to clearly discuss and communicate product value and benefits to customers, prospects, and partners and identify the marketing mix (product, price, position). He/she will also manage numerous market intelligence programs such as win/loss, market opportunity, voice of customer, and competitive intelligence to ensure the strategic process is well informed.

He/she will also ensure strategic alignment across line of business and EIS shared resources by owning the end to end product lifecycle governance, portfolio management/capital investment funding, value stream engineering, portfolio performance analytics, and office of strategy management activities. These processes will be based on best practices such as Balanced Scorecards and the Scaled Agile Framework Methodology.   

Further, the Executive Director/Vice President will work cross-functionally (significant input and aligned workstreams with the Solution Management teams is expected) to identify, incubate and drive new business initiatives. In particular, this individual will focus on business lines that capitalize on current assets, market positions, and core competencies in order to expand into new business lines that 1) strengthen our core business while 2) simultaneously laying the seeds for new business ideas and opportunities that could blossom into future growth areas.  He/she will ensure a diverse portfolio of best-in-class solutions by working with a cross-functional team to identify growth markets and market requirements for current and future products. 

Job Description

 

  • Lead strategic formulation and documentation processes with a specific focus on ensuring alignment of market opportunity, revenue, bookings, and EBIT targets. 

 

  • Establish a business intelligence function and collect the required information needed to effectively ensure business strategy is being informed by solid analysis. 

 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure tactics are clearly linked to strategy (inclusive of the marketing mix elements of product, price, and position), and creatively developed with overall strategy in-mind by implementing management execution frameworks such as portfolio reviews, balanced scorecards, and strategy maps.

 

  • Govern the creation of value streams through the implementation of portfolio management/investment planning and end to end product lifecycle governance.

 

  • Ensure value deliver through the translation of value streams to the agile release trains responsible for delivering the value to the execution of programs through the program management office.

 

  • Working cross-functionally (with specific input from the Solution Management teams) - Identify growth opportunities by analyzing customer problems, market trends and competitive gaps in order to build opportunity assessments, strategy formulation and valuations.

 

  • Working cross-functionally (specifically with the Solution Management teams) – lead all customer and market oriented outreach programs inclusive of development partnerships, pilot programs, clinical leadership and executive advisory councils, market and analyst outreach programs, strategic initiatives such as stimulus program support, and other client driven development programs.

 

  • Direct the preparation of business cases for new initiatives and work with key business leaders, Product Management, Marketing, Engineering, Sales, and Finance to develop ROI / payback and projected timelines for delivery, while being able to rationalize scenarios in a fast growing, rapidly evolving business environment.

 


 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Requirements
10+ years of product management experience including 7+ years managerial experience

Critical Skills

 

  • A minimum of 10 years work related experience with 7+ years people leadership experience.

 

  • Demonstrated exceptional performance in diagnosing business problems and building and executing multi-faceted, long-term, strategic plans based on business challenges.

 

  • Healthcare IT experience required. EMR, clinical informatics, analytics, and experience managing content and supporting services preferred.

 

  • Demonstrated development and implementation of structured, practical, fact-based approach to strategy development, valuation, and business plans.

 

  • Commanding knowledge of best practices and frameworks relevant to financial / business modeling and analysis, business plan development, market/industry research, competitive analysis, project management, product/service lifecycle management, and agile development methodologies.

 

  • Highly proficient in creating and communicating business plans and models, using tools such as MS Excel and PowerPoint. Must be able to research, analyze data and prepare presentations and reports.

 

  • Highly self-motivated and directed with the ability to juggle different tasks, effectively balance priorities, and be accepting.

Education
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Computer Science, or related discipline required.
  • Masters degree in business, marketing, or a related field is strongly preferred.
