To monitor and supervise cardiac patients during various exercise modalities. Under the general supervision of the Sr. Director Cardiovascular Services, develops and implements progressive cardiac rehabilitation exercise. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to her/his department. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principle of exercise progression n the cardiac patient, indications and contraindications to exercise for the cardiac patient, ECG interpretation and cardiac arrhythmias. Must demonstrate knowledge of the risk factors for cardiac disease and risk factor modifications. Must be able to assess individual patient's needs and abilities for exercise and modifiable risk factors and communicate rehabilitation plan to the patient and patient's family. The exercise physiologist works with an RN and defers medical issues and concerns of the patient to the RN. Clients served are of the adult and geriatric populations and will receive treatment without regard to race, gender, religion or national origin.
Graduate of an approved Master's or Bachelor's Degree Exercise Science Program
One or two years in clinical setting preferred. Internship to include graded exercise testing, phase I, II and III Cardiac Rehab Supervisory experience desirable.
