The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) has recently expanded their scope from Property & Casualty fraud to include all external fraud exposures across the Enterprise. As a result, SIU is seeking qualified candidates to serve as External Anti-Fraud Consultants. The Anti-Fraud Consultants will be aligned to support specific lines of business to include the following: Personal Lines, Commercial Lines, and Nationwide Financial to include Nationwide Bank.

As a result, SIU is seeking qualified candidates to serve as External Anti-Fraud Consultants. The anti-fraud consultants will be aligned to a specific line of business. Specifically, SIU is looking for a candidate to support Nationwide Growth Solutions, primarily focused on our Nationwide Pet business. The Consultant will be the primary relationship manager and liaison between SIU and all facets of Nationwide Growth Solutions.

The ideal candidate will possess specific Nationwide Pet experience or relevant experience in Nationwide Growth Solutions in (or in combination of) Product, Underwriting, Sales, or Claims

The position will be placed in the Brea, CA office location

JOB SUMMARY: Represents the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) as the primary relationship manager, liaison and fraud prevention consultant. Consults with business leaders across Product, Underwriting, Claims, SIU, IT, and all distribution channels. Provides guidance and recommendations on claims and point of sale fraud trends both internally and externally within the industry.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the Director, External Anti-Fraud.

CORE JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Represents SIU as the primary relationship manager and SIU liaison and fraud prevention consultant. Has oversight for both Point of Sale and Point of Claim initiatives across assigned line(s) of business for the Enterprise.

+ Participates/influences key initiatives to address the Product, Underwriting, Claims, and SIU strategies, growth and profitability objectives in designated line of business or organization.

+ Applies appropriate quantitative techniques and methods to solve business problems and make actionable process recommendations. This will include monitoring product performance, identifying opportunities to improve performance, working with line operations to implement improvement programs, field liaison and consultation with other operations/offices.

+ Consults with business partners across Product, Underwriting, Claims, SIU, IT, and all distribution channels. Communicates meaningful insights to partners both from Point of Sale and Point of Claim.

+ Provides guidance and recommendations to claims leadership and associates on claims resolution on fraud trends both internally and through the industry. May also function in a support role to an SIU Director for product line performance and strategy support.

+ Analyzes underwriting territory performance. Monitors results, identifies trends, implements changes, identifying problem areas; suggests improvements. Acts as a technical resource to Personal Lines Underwriting team members providing guidance on regulatory issues, specific risks, and agency relationships.

+ Develops, grows, and maintains business relationships with key groups or individuals within target market or channel. Serves as the primary business contact for SIU.

+ Aids in the developmentandassists with the implementation of strategies that support multiple product related profitability objectives. Supports assignedstate/regionalandoperations functions. Responsible for assisting with managing the SIU processes for consistency within the designated line of business or geographic location. Coordinates efforts with other SIU field and staff areas.

+ Partners with executive management to transform their businesses through the strategic application of people, processes, and technology. Participates in strategic planning process for a given business unit by identifying complexities, dependencies, and redundancies in the business model.

+ Provides input and participates in the development of reports and dashboards designed to monitor Regional operations results.

+ Leads special programs and projects that support the SIU strategic initiatives.

+ Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in insurance or business preferred.

Post graduate work preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: Participation in or completion of technical insurance programs CPCU, CLU, IIA preferred.

Experience: Eight years' business related experience in (or combination) SIU, Claims, Product, Underwriting, or Direct channel organizations. Prefer exposure to Claims, Product, Underwriting, Data Analytics, Nationwide Financial (Life and Bank) and/or Nationwide Pet.

Knowledge: Must have the ability to develop and apply innovative approaches to business problems and opportunities. Consulting experience, knowledgeable and experienced with the core functions of an organization, experience with process design and mapping and continuous improvement. Knowledge in leading business process analysis/design, organizational analysis, stakeholder needs assessments, and cost/benefit analysis in an effort to align information technology solutions with business strategies and directions. Leads in the strategic planning of business-specific technology. Consults with functional groups within IT and internal business clients to develop short- and long-term business transformation plans. Must possess knowledge of Property/Casualty Insurance, such as organization, structure, channels, and business focus for the Special Investigation Unit organization and company. Detailed knowledge of personal lines insurance products, state regulations, underwriting policies, guidelines, and procedures, best practices. Prior project and process management skills preferred.

Superior organizational agility skills to navigate defined business unit, IT, business solution area, and other Enterprise organizations. Proven ability to operate personal computer with proficient use of claims and business software. Working knowledge of statistical software including, Teradata, Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, SQL Assistant preferred.
