Key Responsibilities

This is a Technical Facilities Engineer position. This position is to provide technical leadership in the planning, design, configuration, construction, commissioning, operations, and maintenance of gas and chemical (G&C) delivery equipment & systems, and Gas Life Safety System (GLSS).

G&C Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing the operations, maintenance and safety of all G&C delivery systems to ensure maximum uptime
  • Coordinate with 3 rd party G&C service provider to ensure proper maintenance of mechanical, electrical, fire life safety, process piping, and controls systems
  • Monitor 3rd party G&C maintenance providers performance and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Coordinate with multiple groups (planning, construction, safety, G&C service provider, building owners, management, etc.) to meet project or service request requirement and minimize system downtime and business interruptions
  • Respond to business interruptions or internal customer escalations
  • Perform problem solving, troubleshooting, root cause analysis using 8D methodology
  • Ensure that all G&C systems operate to design specifications
  • Evaluate G&C system capacities and capabilities and make improvement recommendations
  • Forecast budget spending and review supplier invoices
  • Identify and conceptually scope safety, compliance, capacity, redundancy, and cost savings projects
  • Obtain funding and manage projects per scope, schedule & budget
  • Review operation, maintenance, trouble shooting, project commissioning & acceptance, and other related documents for G&C systems; recommend and implement improvements
  • Review and approve building construction, fit-up and tool hook-up designs
  • Coordinate with 3 rd party hazardous waste management service provider to ensure safe handling and disposal of gas, liquid and solid wastes

GLSS Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage engineering & design team of instrumentation, controls and life safety system for multiple projects of varying complexity
  • Manage GLSS maintenance team
  • Take various levels of responsibility for, and participation in the development of, project scope, budget, and schedule
  • Provide technical direction to design engineers throughout the project conceptual design phase, interface with site user groups, other engineering disciplines, local municipalities and/or utilities, trade contractors, and other project stakeholders as required
  • Perform conceptual instrumentation and controls (I&C) and Life Safety System analysis for multiple scenarios that can include high level schedule and/or budget development to help customers and stakeholders make critical business decisions based on time and cost constraints
  • Establish Plan of Record designs including component selection of all instruments, actuators, and controlled output devices as well as control systems such as PLCs and SCADA. Management and development of new design standards to meet changing process and customer requirements
  • Develop effective process design deliverables to support all aspects of conceptual design
  • Effectively interact with several internal engineering organizations to influence design standards, construction specifications, and operations requirements to ensure these enable construction to meet its
  • Review and approve Chem Auth and MOC

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical / Chemical Engineering
  • 7 years of semiconductor or high purity hazardous gas facilities management experience; or equivalent experience of more than 10 years of semiconductor gas facilities management
Additional qualifications include:

  • Working experience as a facilities engineer in semiconductor manufacturing (wafer fab) facilities a strong plus
  • Industrial gas and chemical delivery experience or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of gas distribution system and PLC based controls systems
  • Knowledge of local Fire, Building and Environmental codes
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of SPC, 8D, DMAIC, FMEA and other tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Foreign language capability a plus
  • Experience with MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, AutoCAD, SCADA (e.g. GE Cimplicity), CAFM (e.g. IBM TRIRIGA), and CMMS (e.g.IBM Maximo)
  • Ability to work effectively as an individual with minimal direction, and as part of a larger multi-functional team
