Federal - NLP Architect

Basic Qualifications:
  • PhD +4 years of experience or Master Degree +8 years experience in a domain relevant to NLP
  • Published research or applied experience with NLP technologies in a clinical domain is a must
  • 15 years professional experience 
  • Ability to contribute to a high-performing, motivated workgroup by applying interpersonal and collaboration skills to achieve project goals
  • Ability to contribute to the creation of an environment that motivates individuals to work collaboratively as a team
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with NLP technologies in a clinical background
  • Expert level understanding of the UMLS
  • Experience designing methods for dealing with large document source variance
  • Expert level understanding of ontology and taxonomy curation
  • Prior publication is a plus
  • Experience with machine learning
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management
  • Java coding capabilities with experience in J2EE framework such as Core Java, Spring, EJB, JDBC, JMS, Struts
  • Experience with Health IT and an understanding of Health IT Standards (HL7 v2.x, HL7 v3, ASTM, X12N, HITSP component specifications, Clinical Document Architecture, Continuity of Care Record and the Health Story implementation guides)

An active security clearance or the ability to obtain one may be required for this role.
