Eaton’s North American Sales Division has an opening for a Field Project Engineer - Key Segments.  This position can be based in our Smyrna Ga, Hanover MD, Glendale Heights IL, Houston TX, Wilsonville OR, Morrisville NC, Parma OH, Metairie LA, Richmond VA, Charlotte NC, or Denver CO facilities.


Position Summary

The primary function of a Field Project Engineer is to support the PMO Mission through mitigating risk, creating demand, and improving productivity.  This position supports the Project Manager through technical ownership of the order and creates a positive customer experience through a proactive approach to project support and issue resolution. This position leverages centralized resources to manage documentation and resolve issues and builds relationships across customers and Eaton facilities to deliver a successful project.  This position works independently on daily tasks, taking direction from local Project Managers and reporting into the PMO Engineering Manager or Regional Manager directly.


We are seeking an individual who will support Project Managers by managing technical information on Project Managed orders including contract drawings, specifications, manufacturing documents, and warranty support; creating a positive customer experience through a proactive approach to project support and issue resolution.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Review of project specifications and contracts
  • Review of order specifics prior to entry insuring technical accuracy
  • Management of technical changes to the bill of material
  • Coordination and interpretation of plant drawings
  • Leveraging centralized resources for the creation of submittal packages
  • Closure of warranty issues
  • Review of operations and maintenance materials
  • Ensure that accurate information flows to and from the customer in a timely manner.


Position Criteria

  • Possess technical sales aptitude, market channel knowledge and power distribution / power quality expertise
  • Capable of working in a team environment, using strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish customer relationships within the market area while maintaining and growing existing customer relationships
  • Knowledgeable of Eaton product and service capabilities and can assemble standard offerings to meet customer needs with occasional internal oversight
  • Possess necessary computer skills including: Adobe Acrobat, AutoCAD, Internet applications, Microsoft Office applications, and other product configuration tools
  • Possess organizational, presentation, training, and planning skills
  • Knowledgeable of market and industry issues, key trends, and surround competitors     
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience within the electrical industry
  • Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
  • Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other technical field
  • Electrical industry expertise and product knowledge with focus on following customer bases: data centers, oil and gas, and/or nuclear
  • Prior contractor, sales, and/or sales support  experience
  • May require travel up to 10%
