Financial Analyst - Information Technology



The IT Financial Analyst is responsible for providing detailed expense reconciliation, month end close journal and variance analysis preparation, and ad hoc research requests for the IT organization. The IT Financial Analyst will report to the Senior Manager of IT Finance, and interact frequently with IT staff, IT leadership, and external business partners. The IT Financial Analyst is responsible for compiling data, producing and distributing multiple financial and operational reports, and trend analysis. This position will also assist in the annual IT expense budgeting process, and automating existing processes and documentation.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONs:

-Manage month end close duties within the IT Store portfolio to include; preparing month end close journal entries, and forecast and budget variances analysis as required.
-Review monthly store voice, data, and repair and maintenance (contract and T&M) expense trends against forecast and budget. -Critically review expense activity and validity.
-Prepare periodic variance analysis providing detailed explanations supporting variance to forecast and budget.
-Prepare and track monthly internal labor capitalization schedule, meeting monthly with portfolio owners to review resource activity, update forecast, and provide variance analysis.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

-Bachelor's degree required with demonstrated superior college performance (preferably in an analytical field)
-Minimum 1-2 years experience (within a financial analysis and planning group)
-Working understanding of GAAP and accounting methodologies)
-Strong analytical ability
-must be able to synthesize data, be able to error check and reconcile own work and be able to design analysis to answer specific questions
-A detail oriented approach
-Strong organizational skills
-Strong general ledger and accounts payable research and reconciliation experience, and complete understanding of debits and credits, and accrual based accounting


-Strong excel and word skills, as well as ability to learn multiple new back end software applications (i.e. PeopleSoft Financial Systems, and Hyperion)
