The Financial Leadership Program (FLP) provides aspiring finance and accounting professionals with a range of unique experiences in corporate accounting and finance to help shape them into future business leaders. Over the course of the three-year program, accounting and finance professionals develop their careers through a series of two 6-month and two 1-year rotations designed to challenge them to quickly adapt and add value to each position. As associates enter the program, each is assigned a peer mentor to help introduce them to Shire's corporate culture and the values and goals of the FLP. The cross-functional knowledge and breadth of experience associates gain enable them to pursue numerous career opportunities within Shire. Through formal training and on-the-job experiences, the FLP is committed to developing associates' financial, leadership and teamwork skills while exposing them to Shire's technologies, product lines and global markets.
FLP associates are typically involved in:
-Financial Reporting and Planning - where they budget, forecast and consolidate information reported to the external community.
-Business Analysis and Decision Support - where they analyze and consolidate financial statements for Shire business units and functions, including commercial, operations, and R&D.
-Manufacturing/Cost Accounting - where they use general and cost accounting skills to process issues related to day-to-day business and manufacturing operations.
-Corporate - where they address a variety of high-level financial tasks and projects that span across business units and regions.

Graduating from the FLP
As associates progress through each rotation, they continue to build and develop their skills, and enhance their overall knowledge of Shire. Prior to completing the program, associates typically begin planning their transition to a regular, full-time position within the company. As they do so, they have access to a variety of resources to help with the transition, including the FLP program manager, a career development steering committee and past FLP supervisors and alumni.
