The Foods Manufacturing Specialist will provide technical sales support for the Western Sub-Region, with support responsibilities primarily covering the following geographies: Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada.

This individual will play a key role in the profitable growth of our Merchant Gas business in the West Sub Region, focusing primarily on food freezing/chilling/packaging applications, as well as industrial gas applications in other adjacent industries. This position will be ideally based in Southern California.

This individual will be focused on selling solutions, which will include gases, technology and application equipment offerings to the food industry, as well as other adjacent industries. This individual will also be responsible for direct sales support, while meeting regional sales and profitability targets.

Key responsibilities include technical sales using the individual's process, business, opportunity and solution identification knowledge, understanding of equipment, technology and process layout, understanding of the drivers specific to each market segment and proactive sales support and training. The individual will need to assess prospect/customer problems, analyze the information identified and develop a solution based proposal.

Other duties include resolving process and equipment problems, project start up support for equipment installations and providing input to our research group for new offering development. This individual will be involved from the initial contact with prospects, all the way through the selling process to start up and customer retention.

This position will require extensive travel (40-50%) throughout the sales region and occasionally in other parts of the US/Canada.

This role is vital in driving new business through the selling process and requires interfacing with various internal functions .

In addition to this, building key relationships with external suppliers, from equipment, packaging materials and consultants, will provide additional opportunities to identify potential new business. The individual will need to take initiative, ownership, act with urgency and communicate effectively (both oral and written) with all internal and external members of our team.

  • Minimum of BA college degree
  • Candidate should have experience in writing and presenting technical proposals, negotiating commercial/purchasing agreements, troubleshooting process issues/bottlenecks and working in a team environment.
  • Experience in a food or industrial processing/manufacturing environment with at least 5 years in a leadership/supervisory role
  • Strong knowledge of food/industrial processing to include product flows, packaging, optimization, labor utilization, yield improvement and opportunity savings assessment and implementation.
  • Virtual Home office will be provided: 40%-50% travel required
