Functional Description:
The goal of Frito Lay's internship program is to provide students with the opportunity to leverage their academic understanding in a real-world, business-driven environment. During this internship experience, you will have exposure to a variety of components of the Frito Lay Supply Chain / Engineering organization. At the end of the summer, our interns report out to the Leadership Team on the key business points learned from the internship experience. The position requires a self-directed, motivated individual prepared for a fast-paced environment. Working as an intern with Frito-Lay will provide you with guidance for future management skills and the opportunity to execute key managerial decisions. This internship will last approximately 10 weeks beginning May, 2017.

What you can expect:
Engineering program
  • Engineering & Technical design & analysis on project/program life cycle phases (feasibility / concept / funding / commercialization )
  • Project Engineering work within Innovation, Growth/Capacity, GES/Warehouse, Controls & Information Systems, Facilities/Infrastructure, or Productivity.
  • Prepare and review vendor proposals based on Engineering & Equipment standards.
  • Optimize Equipment Specifications including Key Performance Metrics for sourcing through external vendors.
  • Collect, review and present equipment reliability & performance results (data from MES or manually collected).
  • Participate in technical team reviews of vendor's proposals & design reviews to accomplish project/program objectives.
  • Work closely with internal cross-functional experts to build DOE's, perform proof of principle test & perform factory acceptance tests.
  • Investigate technical cost, scope, schedule, value, quality, risk management and safety issues identified during project design reviews.
  • Participate in concept development and ideation in support of brainstorming future technical developments.
  • Provide timely project updates on assignment, learnings & results.
  • Internship will last approximately 10-12 weeks and begin in late May

Supply Chain program
  • Assist in the analysis and development of supply chain metrics and business processes
  • Report findings to other team members and management as required
  • Support various components and activities spanning the project management life cycle such as business case analysis, detailed requirements, software design/testing/deployment and issues management
  • Lead analysis or improvement projects related to Supply Chain Service or Safety
  • Work on large projects and manage time and effort without need for constant supervision
  • Experience with statistical modeling and developing reporting tools
  • Potential Projects may include: Robotic studies, seasoning studies, data analysis, equipment selection and testing, labor improvement, Transportation optimization, comparative cost analysis
  • Internship will last approximately 10-12 weeks and begin in late May


Qualifications/Requirements

What we're looking for:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in one of the following:
    • Engineering : Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Computer (or related field)
    • Business : Supply Chain, Logistics, Information Systems (or related field)
  • Basic understanding of engineering or supply chain concepts
  • Self-starter
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Access

Minimum Qualifications - Each candidate is expected to:
  • Graduate with Bachelor's degree within one (1) year of internship completion.
  • Be eligible to work in United States without work authorization sponsorship now or anytime in the future
  • Pass a drug screen and background investigation
