General Manager of "The Wilson House of East Dorset" - East Dorset, VT A Not-For-Profit Corporation Are you looking for an opportunity to have a positive impact on people's lives? Do you have experience working within a not-for-profit organization? The Wilson House was the birthplace of Bill Wilson (1895), a co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous, and has been operated as a place for those in need since 1987. The building has gone through a major restoration was added to the National Register of Historic Places (1995). The building currently has fourteen guest rooms as well as a small apartment. The organization offers educational seminars, private retreats, as well as housing for those participating in Twelve-Step programs. In addtion to the General Manager, The Wilson House operates with a part time assistant, part time front desk staff, part time housekeeper, part time bookkeeper and other positions as necessary to operate the facility. Short term [one week - one month] and long term [3 months-one year] volunteers perform other duties, depending upon abilities and the needs of the House. At this point the Board of Directors is in search of an experienced manager to step in and take over for the individual that has been holding this post for more than 20 years. This is a great full-time career opportunity that not only offers a salary (DOE) with benefits (including a vehicle allowance), but also room and board (if elected). Responsibilities: Day to day management, including volunteer and full time staff, daily schedules, regular maintenance, safety inspections Works with the Board and Committees to carry out the Mission Statement of the Corporation Is responsible for financial management, including fund raising, in conjunction with the Finance Committee and Board and interfacing with accountants Is responsible for hiring and firing of employees; volunteer staff and with the Personnel Committee, employee performance assessment as well as working with the Volunteer Committee to fill volunteer positions Coordinates House preservation projects with the help of the Building and Grounds Committee, (following the guidelines for buildings on the Nat. Reg. of Hist. Places) Oversees scheduling and coordination of all seminars, retreats and private workshops Represents The Wilson House at community events Supervises all phases of publishing the bi-annual Newsletter as well as managing the website Reports directly to the President of the Board of Directors and performs such other tasks from time to time as may be requested by the Board Qualifications: AS Degree (Business or HR is preferred) 10+ years of experience within Not-For-Profit 3-5+ years within a manager role A relationship with Twelve Step programs (a plus) To Apply - Please send a Word version of your resume to craig.macdonald@adeccona.com.
