File clerks need to be able to understand and use computers. ?Discretion: File clerks might have access to sensitive information, such as social security numbers. They need to understand that this information is not to be used publicly or given to the wrong people. ?Organization: Databases need organization to work correctly. Putting files in the right place so they can be retrieved later is a big part of the job. ?People Skills: People come to file clerks to get help finding information. Being a friendly, active listener will help.
