Shift: 3pm - 11pm
SUMMARY:
The primary objective of this position is to operate mat unwind stands, splicing equipment, mat accumulator, and other equipment in a safe and efficient manner to begin the production process.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
  1. Operate and monitor accumulator, make splices, monitor mat quality
  2. Procure mat rolls to be loaded on unwind stands
  3. Prepare rolls for splicing (unwrap, sand, cut etc.)
  4. Operate, monitor and maintain hot glue system
  5. Record mat data into the computer using POP
  6. Enter color changes into computer
  7. Compact and bail mat cores
  8. Thread glass mat through machine as needed
  9. Strip end of mat roll and stack
  10. Perform necessary housekeeping assignments in your area
  11. Operate lift truck in a safe and productive manner in accordance with all safety procedures
  • Replace LP tanks as needed following all safety procedures
  • Maintain housekeeping in work area
  • Visually inspects glass mat and notifies others when there are defects
  • Assist in lace up, product changes, color changes and perform other misc. duties required by shift supervisor
  • Perform other related duties consistent with the nature of the job as directed by the supervisor
  • Participate in safety and good housekeeping programs established in the plant
  • Follow all safety rules and procedures
  • Notify your supervisor immediately of any accident, near miss accident or on-the-job injury when it occurs no matter how insignificant it may seem
  • Operate equipment only when you are trained in its use or are working with or under the direction of a qualified employee, and you are authorized to do so by your supervisor
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The employee should hold the following abilities:
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of all finished products
  • Basic mathematics skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES
The employee must be capable of:
  • Logging into and navigate company intranet to access for paycheck/benefits enrollment information
  • Logging into and navigate Learning Management System and accomplish required online training routinely
  • Basic computer navigation skills
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
The employee should have the following:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years' experience in the mechanical field is preferred in an industrial or manufacturing environment
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee should possess the ability to:
  • Ability to routinely lift up to 40 lbs without assistance
  • Ability to routinely lift up to 80 lbs with assistance
  • Work for up to 12 hours in extreme hold/cold manufacturing environment
  • Walk/stand on concrete floors continuously for up to 12 hours
  • Routinely ascend and descend stairs to enter work areas
  • Safeguard self with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - steel toed shoes, ear plugs, eye protection (glasses, goggles, and/or facemask) as necessary for task
  • Push/Drive floor sweeping and cleaning equipment or tools as necessary for housekeeping duties
  • Lifting and carrying (up to 40 lbs) from Auto Catcher to seconds re-wrap or recycle/trash receptacle.
  • Ability to rotate and work shift work
  • Ability to help with all line breaks and lace-ups
