The Monsanto Treasury Team has an exciting opportunity available for a Global Hedging Analyst to join our team.  This role focuses primarily on risk management of grain commodities and provides backup support for energy, raw materials and currency risk management.  The position interacts with Manufacturing, Finance and Procurement teams and supports tracking and management of commodity and currency risk globally.  The successful candidate will possess strong business, finance, analytical, relationship, and communication skills.  This role will be trained as a backup trader for daily commodity trading activities for grain and currency and gain an understanding of currency and commodity risk market factors plus key business drivers.  
Responsibilities include:
  • Backup trader for daily grain hedging activities related to exchange-traded futures and options for corn and soybean portfolio
  • Ensure daily hedging processes and controls are in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley, hedging plans and accounting requirements & policies
  • Team member of energy and grain hedge teams, and participant in decision making on commodity risk management strategies and tactics
  • Review, analysis and preparation of market and exposure/position information for grain hedging team weekly discussion
  • Support preparation of quarterly reporting for Audit and Finance committee, management reporting
  • Preparation and review of accounting requirements for energy hedging for monthly and quarterly close (e.g. ineffectiveness and regression analysis)
  • Review and documentation of global hedging programs (barter, ex-U.S. production hedges)
  • Support business process improvement of currency and commodity hedging operations via collaboration with hedging, manufacturing and IT team
  • Support global currency risk management as needed with analysis, reporting and backup trading
Required skills/experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field of study
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated results orientation --self driven with an "act as owner" mentality
  • Ability to communicate effectively and develop business partnerships with both finance and non-finance customers
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize work
  • Excellent organizational skills, along with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Business acumen and financial analysis
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge with compliance and financial controls
Desired Skills/Experience:
  • MBA or Masters of Finance, Accounting or a related field of study
  • Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with ERP Systems, SAP strongly preferred
  • Previous experience operating within a multi-national, multi-ethnic, multi-lingual organization
  • Multilingual (Spanish and/or Portuguese is a plus)
