As the Global Marketing Director for early compounds in the Cardiovascular (CV), Metabolic & Neuroscience Franchise, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing commercial insight and guidance into compounds in the early stages of development, prior to a commercial lead being assigned. The initial focus of this role will be on AMG 520 (Alzheimer's disease), AMG 986 (Heart Failure), AMG 529 (Cardiovascular) and GIPR. Providing commercial leadership to the development organization you will be responsible for ensuring that early stage compounds are developed with the future market in mind and ensuring that early development compounds are designed for a high probability of commercial success. This role will involve working with global marketing leaders across the CV, Metabolic and Neuroscience space to ensure that the insight being generated in pre/peri/post launch products are incorporated into the commercial strategy for early development compounds.
In addition to the responsibilities for early stage compounds, 50% of the time spent in this role will also be in support of the commercialization for Omecamtiv Mercarbil, a cardiac- specific myosin activator, currently in development for the treatment of Systolic Heart Failure. Specifically this role will work with the Global Marketing Leader and the product team to ensure that the life-cycle management program for Omecamtiv maximizes the commercial potential for the asset. This individual will also have point responsibility to engage in the development of a global advocacy plan in context of access & policy.
This role will have a full reporting line to the Global Vice President of CV, Metabolic, Neuroscience and a dotted line to the Global Marketing Leader for Omecamtiv.
Key responsibilities include:
Working with current Global Marketing Leaders to gather deep insights into the customer, marketplace, competitors, and business drivers and develop a "gold standard" commercial strategy designed to optimize the future value of early stage assets
Ensuring that all early stage key portal decisions are supported by a robust commercial assessment including but not limited to an understanding of portfolio fit and organizational impact.
Utilizing the knowledge gained with Amgen products to provide marketing input into early stage business development opportunities as they arise
Working with the product team to provide commercial leadership to the Omecamtiv product team around lifecycle management strategies and individual initiatives opportunities to ensure that the value of the asset across future potential indications is realized.
Supporting the Franchise Steering Committee as needed on initiatives related to commercial franchise strategy
Doctorate degree & 4 years of marketing experience
Master's degree & 7 years of marketing experience
Bachelor's degree & 9 years of marketing experience
10+ years of biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience with strong scientific capabilities
Marketing experience in early development in the related therapeutic areas of CV, Metabolic, Neuroscience
Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively across the matrix
Strong leadership skills, including ability to influence teams with diverse backgrounds
Excellent written, analytical and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to analyze a business problem and develop an appropriate strategy
Strong business judgment and emotional intelligence
