Job Description:

3M is seeking a Global Product Manager for the Medium Voltage Cable Accessories business within 3M's Electronics & Energy Business Group, located in Austin, TX.

Job Summary:
The person hired for the position of Global Product Manager will be responsible for developing and executing strategies and operational plans for the Global Medium Voltage Cable Accessories business.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Product Management
  • Identifies and defines significant market/product opportunities to meet sales and growth objectives through portfolio analysis
  • Develop marketing strategies and operational plans for new and existing products and portfolio programs in conjunction with business leaders
  • Develops pricing strategy in line with business goals
  • Coaches and explains marketing data and methodologies to functional leaders, in order to ensure their understanding and buy-in
  • New Product Development and Launch
  • Lead / participate in cross-functional sales, marketing, technical and business teams tasked with creating and driving new product plans to completion, ensuring the team delivers on market-driven requirements
  • Develop and implement on-line and off-line literature / content, tools and training to drive sales as needed
  • Develop and deliver product training to sales representatives, division personnel, channel partners, distributors and / or customers

New Product Development and Launch
  • Lead / participate in cross-functional sales, marketing, technical and business teams tasked with creating and driving new product plans to completion, ensuring the team delivers on market-driven requirements
  • Develop and implement on-line and off-line literature / content, tools and training to drive sales as needed
  • Develop and deliver product training to sales representatives, division personnel, channel partners, distributors and / or customers

We are seeking an individual with strong leadership skills who is comfortable working within a matrix organization with an appropriate entrepreneurial attitude of taking the business to a new level by identifying and communicating opportunities, and translating this into concrete, realistic, and relevant action plans which they execute and manage through to completion. The individual must navigate complex situations and organizational challenges. Flexibility, urgency, managing ambiguity, and leadership, in response to multiple priorities and constraints, and limited data and communications, will be critical.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university
  • Minimum of five (5) years of combined experience in product marketing, product management and/or technical product development

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or higher in Business Administration, Marketing, and/or Strategy
  • Experience analyzing financial effectiveness of marketing programs
  • Experience communicating and presenting to a variety of audiences
  • Experience working cross-functionally to develop and launch new products
  • Experience with medium voltage cable accessories as well as the electrical utility and electrical construction industries
  • Solid analytical skills - ability to effectively move from analysis to insight and execution
  • Experience with promotions, pricing and positioning products
  • Understands and anticipates market data / trends and customer needs
  • International product marketing experience
  • Understanding and experience with various forms of market research

Location:: Austin, TX
Travel: Up to 20% domestic travel is anticipated
Relocation: Is authorized within country per 3M policies.
