The Global Strategy and Insights Leader (GSIL) is will have a primary accountability for identifying insights that drive accelerated growth and create shareholder value.  The GSIL will generate and synthesis market derived intelligence into business-shaping insights for the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Disease Area Stronghold (DAS).  They must be highly capable in utilizing novel data collection and analytical methods as well as possessing competence in traditional methods (market insights and secondary analytics) to find new ways to enhance portfolio value.   The GSIL will lead the IBD DAS analytics team, drive and shape strategies and tactics and identify new growth opportunities. High learning agility, a track record of driving tangible positive results, and exceptional collaboration skills are core traits of the qualified candidate. The GSIL is expected to be (or quickly become) an expert in the IBD disease area, and have an ability to discuss and advise on strategic issues and opportunities at a senior level. 


The Global Strategy and Insights Leader will:


  • The incumbent takes the lead analysis and strategy role, with broad oversight of the functions for the IBD Disease Area Stronghold (DAS)
    • Identifys insights that drive accelerated growth and create shareholder value
    • Builds and maintains a fact based situation analysis and makes fact-based strategic recommendations to drive commercial priorities
    • Leads business problem solving efforts across the assigned DAS, and includes other commercial and non-commercial functions as needed to ensure expert and aligned assessments and solutions are achieved. 
    • Interfaces with leaders from Disease Area Stronghold leadership on an ongoing basis to ensure alignment
    • Develops strong and articulate voice for all relevant stakeholders (patient, physician, payor, and others) 
  • Serves as a focal point for driving and/or integrating all strategic insights for the IBD DAS and translating to business impact across R&D and Commercial, including:
    • Primary and secondary market analytics, business intelligence, and forecasting
    • Understanding of relevant data sources including IMS data
    • Facility with novel data collection and analytical methods 
    • Launch product reporting, regional support and best practice identification
    • Leading interactions with other analytic functions (HECOR, epidemiology, clinical)
    • Investor relations preparation query response

    • Engages in change leadership to implement new organizational models, standards, and processes; communicate and connect with leaders at all levels to drive strong engagement


  • A minimum of a Master’s degree or equivalent graduate education in a relevant field is required. 
  • Ph.D., Pharm.D, or MD preferred
  • A minimum of 7 years of related business experience is required with a track record of proven success.
  • Global experience and experience within the healthcare industry and/or experience in a top tier management consulting company including work in healthcare
  • Strong business analysis and financial skills including a working understanding of discounted cash flow modelling (a finance background is welcome)
  • A solid understanding of the three traditional marketing analytics functions (market insights, data analytics and competitive intelligence) and the ability to define and solve problems using appropriate methods (akin to approaches taken by major consulting firms) on ambitious timelines.  
  • Outstanding communications skills
  • A proven ability to define and solve complex problems, as well as the ability to navigate a complicated matrixed organization, partnering across business units (regions) and functions (such as R&D, Finance, and New Business Development (NBD)) 
  • This position is based in Horsham, PA and will require up to 25% domestic and international travel
