Responsibilities:

In this role you will support a robust and experienced government affairs team working to improve home health care in our state and federal governments. The Specialist does this by coordinating the activities of the Government Affairs Office (GAO) to support its mission to represent BAYADA Home Health Care with all levels of local, state and federal government entities, regulatory agencies and community organizations. We act as a voice for our patients, their families and our employees through education, advocacy, community service and research; and seek and promote policies which support the development of high quality home health care services that will enable clients to remain in their homes.  This position is a growth position meant to prepare the individual for a career in government and public affairs.

 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research statistics and studies that support the policy and legislative initiatives of the GAO.
  • Manage the day to day administration of the Grassroots software system and Web site. 
  • Draft or assist with drafting white papers on various topics of concern.
  •  Draft correspondence to legislators and regulators.
  • Educate and lobby legislators on issues of importance to BAYADA and the home health care industry.
  •  Represent BAYADA at state and national home health care associations.
  • Assist with the consolidation of division budgets 
  •  Support the development of the GAO Ambassador program.
  •  Assist with the development and implementation of grassroots campaigns.
  •  Coordinate activities for the Chief Government Affairs Officer and State Directors.
  •  Assist with the planning and implementation of legislative or fundraising events.
Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four (4) year college degree.
  • Two (2) to three (3) years verifiable experience in health care or a related field, preferably in health care policy or advocacy.
  • Demonstrated record of strong interpersonal skills and building relationships.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel and work independently.
  • A basic understanding of HTML and web site design concepts
  • Competence in basic PC skills required to perform job functions and willingness to learn additional software relative to government relations support.
