Operations is one of the three foundational functions at Amgen with a mission to be consistent and efficient in delivering safe and effective medicines around the world. Operations manufactures and delivers Amgen therapeutics to our patients. Made up of five functions: Global Supply Chain, Operations Technology, Quality, Manufacturing and Engineering, and spread across nine sites, Operations' aspiration is simple: Ensure patients have access to the Amgen products they need. Every patient, every time.
Amgen's 10-12 week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patient's lives. This internship provides the opportunity for executive and social networking events and to participate in community volunteer projects while providing a competitive compensation.
Limited relocation housing and/or transportation allowance may be available for eligible candidates.
The engineering graduate intern will work closely with a team of engineers and scientists responsible for technical aspects of Amgen's drug product process engineering and manufacturing science advancement. The individual will obtain reproducible and reliable results, analyze data and communicate results to cross functional groups to advance clinical and commercial drug product process development. Specific responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Support clinical fill/finish manufacturing operations through establishing platform solutions to technical challenges for aseptic manufacturing
Perform process and product monitoring, data trending, and optimization of formulation, filling, and finishing processes for parenteral products
Analyze data using statistical methods for evaluating process consistency and capability
Write and execute protocols in support of process monitoring and optimization
Basic Qualifications
Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:
18 years or older
Graduated with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
Completion as a first year graduate student before internship starts and currently enrolled in a MBA program for a MBA internship OR a Master's program for a Masters internship OR a PharmD program for a PharmD internship OR PhD for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university
Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment
Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
Preferred Qualifications
Degree concentration(s) in chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, software engineering or automation engineering
Outstanding technical writing and data analysis skills
Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
Proficiency with data analysis and statistics
