Job Description
Working in partnership across the Corporate Affairs team, this position will support the communications planning and execution for a variety of milestones and events for Amgen. This role will interface with multiple work streams to help coordinate and deliver a consistent and compelling message to staff, media and other critical audiences.

Responsibilities could include:

Support the development of communications strategies and plans that help our colleagues effectively and consistently communicate to their key audiences and stakeholders
Once fully vetted and approved, flawlessly execute on those plans and deliver measurable results
Develop external and internal communications materials to support these strategies
Serve as corporate affairs representative on formal and informal internal groups that have been created to develop strategies and tactics in support of Amgen products
Follow process for review and approval that ensures message buy-in from related parties and Amgen's executive leadership
Engage with advocacy partners to compliantly liaise with third-party organizations, patients and healthcare providers
Manage and direct public relations agency partners to assure maximum impact and assistance in reaching desired communications goals and objectives
Anticipate and proactively prepare company spokespeople and third-party spokespersons (where appropriate) for issues or events, including media training external and internal spokespeople
Work in partnership with staff and change communication team to ensure awareness of news on the assigned Amgen products with Amgen staff

Relocation in the form of a transportation allowance will be provided for eligible candidates.

Basic Qualifications
Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:
18 years or older
Graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
Completion as a first year graduate student before internship starts and currently enrolled in a MBA program for a MBA internship OR a Master's program for a Masters internship OR a PharmD program for a PharmD internship OR PhD for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university
Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

Preferred Qualifications
Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Communication/ Public Relations or related field
Strong oral and presentation skills
Superior writing skills
Strategic and creative thinker with ability to develop actionable programs that integrate soundly with business objectives
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to deal with rapidly changing priorities
Ability to interact with all levels of management and manage staff and vendors
Excellent interpersonal skills; enthusiastic, team player and self-starter
Ability to productively navigate a challenging and dynamic environment
Enrolled in a full time graduate program following at least 30 days prior the conclusion of the co-op assignment
