The candidate will hold a Ph. D. in biological sciences or equivalent; have a minimum of fifteen years relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry supported by an appropriate publication record. This candidate will be expected to lead a team of senior research investigators in a technology rich environment with particular emphasis on biochemistry, biophysics, enzyme kinetics and in vitro pharmacology to support drug discovery projects from hit identification to lead optimization. A significant track record of tangible deliverables in early drug discovery will be self-evident. Advanced assay design and mechanistic enzymology knowledge are an absolute requirement. The position involves working with leaders from all therapeutic areas to transition exploratory drug discovery programs to fully funded drug discovery programs. Through impedance matched process design the candidate will be responsible for enhancing operational efficiency and delivering tangible impact to BMS drug discovery. Experiences in multiple therapeutic areas including immunology, immune-oncology, oncology and Fibrosis etc. will be plus.
The candidate will be expected to be an excellent coach, have broad experiences in mentoring junior/senior investigators and possess strong and effective negotiation skills. The successful candidate must be a strong Leader of Leaders. An ability to "get things done" with scientific rigor in a positive collaborative environment is essential. This candidate will be able to clearly demonstrate a consistent track record of impact on drug discovery programs through the judicious use of science and technology. Experiences in the application of modern automation, miniaturization, bioassay technology, and data analytics are important assets for this position. In addition, this candidate will hold responsibility to work with our Chemistry leaders for compound collection enhancement and architecture.
Additionally, the candidate will be expected to collaborate with a variety of high profile alliance partners and rapidly delivery information for due diligence efforts. This candidate must demonstrate ability to drive and lead the initiatives across disciplines. He or she must have a track record in building strategy and expanding functional capability in today's dynamic and competitive environment. The communication style will impart scientific credibility and create a strong positive image for LDO and BMS.
