Department Description

The role is with the Power Engineering group which is structured within X86 Hardware Development.
Power Engineering are responsible for the delivery of new products and the resolution and support of products which are
in their sustaining life cycle mode.
Custom power products are developed in accordance with the Hardware Engineering groups requirements.
Products developed include front end AC and front end DC power supplies, power distribution units, busbar design

Detailed Description
The successful candidate will be expected to carry out the following tasks :

Product definition
Work with Engineering Business groups defining the next generation requirements for power conversion devices and the
translation of those requirements into a specification.

Vendor assessment
Assessment of proposals submitted during the RFQ (Request for quotation) against the technical, quality and schedule goals.

Product development
Technical management of the Vendor ensuring delivery to schedule and specification.

Product sustaining
Work with the Quality Organization to resolve customer field issues and or manufacturing problems as they arise.

Review proposals by Vendors with respect to modification to accommodate either new regulation requirements or
end of life component changes.

Product road map
Participation in a strategic group defining future technology requirements

Job Requirements
Work is non-routine and at times, complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of
specialization.
BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area are required
A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience

Skills and knowledge :
Knowledge of how to bring a product to market
Ability to deal effectively with ambiguity, learn on the fly, make data driven decisions, and set clear deliverables
Ability to work in an ever changing climate with high accountability and a sense of urgency
Ability to influence without authority, negotiate effectively and deliver results
Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills
Excellent Project Management and analytical qualities
Must prioritize and multitask effectively
Knowledge of PBMUS and I2C is preferred
Programming skills is preferred (Ardvark and Arduino based tools are current being used)
Knowledge of power distribution is an advantage
Qualifications:
Evaluates reliability of materials, properties and techniques used in production; plans, designs and develops electronic parts, components, integrated circuitry, mechanical systems, equipment and packaging, optical systems and/or DSP systems.

Responsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic, electro-mechanical or mechanical components, assemblies or integrated circuitry for hardware systems for the external market. Includes new design, as well as modification activities that results in significant product enhancement. Activities encompass design, analysis, testing and process development using engineering principles and methods. Technical disciplines may include electrical and logical design of printed circuit boards or integrated circuits; mechanical design of electronics enclosures or integrated circuit packaging; and embedded software/firmware design.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of engineering or related experience.
