HCA Nurse Residency Program- Tristar Division

How you begin your nursing career is an important decision for you and for the safety of your patients.

The HCA Nurse Residency Program is a comprehensive program for new graduate nurses with less than six months of experience. The formalized, competitive residency program is comprised of:
  • Education and Curriculum
  • Guided Clinical with Preceptor
  • Support (Mentoring and Debriefing)
  • Measurement and Evaluation

Requirements at Time of Application:
- Eligible for graduation from a NLN-AC or CCNE Accredited Nursing Program with an Associate or Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing prior to employment.
- Personal Letter of Intent that includes:
* Vision
* Goals with a 5-year plan
* Why did you choose Nursing?
* Why are you interested in the TriStar Division Nurse Residency Program?
- Two (2) letters of reference: 1 from a clinical faculty member and 1 from current manager OR 2 clinical faculty members if not working.
- Transcript demonstrating a minimum cumulative GPA = 2.5

Education and Licensure Requirements at Time of Hire:
- Associate degree in Nursing Required Required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing Preferred
- BLS (Basic Life Support) AHA Required
- Current, valid State license as a Registered Nurse*

*Note: Nurse Resident must present proof of RN licensure prior to start date or attestation to test within seventy-five (75) days of start date. Nurse Residents who are required to retake the exam must schedule the exam within 45 days of their first test date. Nurse Residents must take the NCLEX, pass, and receive RN licensure by the end of the orientation and on boarding phase of the Nurse Residency Program - thirteen (13) weeks from start date. Primary source verification will be completed.
