The Corporate Market Risk Oversight team (“CMRO”) within Wells Fargo Corporate Market Risk Group (“CMRG”) is responsible for independently identifying, measuring, monitoring, and communicating market risk from all risk taking activities across Wells Fargo, including trading, hedging, securitization, investing, and treasury management.

CMRO Officers play a key role in ensuring the completeness and accuracy of all market risk measurements (including but limited to risk sensitivities, Value at Risk, and stress scenarios. Oversight officers work closely with multiple lines of business (“LOB”) and trading desks as well as other teams within CMRG, Market Risk Analytics, Technology, Operations, and Finance. The CMRO team also plays an important role in ensuring accuracy of market risk capital, CCAR stress testing, new initiative/product review/assessment, and various efforts to improve firm’s market risk controls. The CMRO team carries out the market risk governance framework, policies, and procedures in accordance with Wells Fargo’s Foundational Risk Framework, Risk Appetite, and Market Risk Policy. The oversight activities help to ensure the firm is in compliance with relevant market risk rules and regulations, including but not limited to the final market risk capital rule and the Volcker rule.

Within CMRO, the Equity Market Risk Oversight (Equity MRO) team is responsible for overseeing market risk arising from the following businesses: Wells Fargo Securities (WFS) Equity Trading & Investment Solutions (IS), Investment Banking Capital Markets Equity Capital Markets (IBCM ECM), Prime Service, and Non-Marketable Private Equity Investment (PE).

We are looking to fill a senior market risk oversight manager role to lead the Equity MRO team. This manager position will maintain strong working relationship with the business and supporting partners while providing effective oversight. Markets and products of focus include equity (e.g., cash, derivatives, and structured equity products) trading, hedging, underwriting, financing, execution services, as well as non-marketable (private) equity investments. Experience and knowledge of other markets (e.g. Interest Rates, Credit, FX, and Commodities) is beneficial. The ideal candidate would be able to build strong relationships with the business and other support partners to ensure governance and oversight policies are established and implemented appropriately and effectively. This individual will also need to work with senior managers in LOBs to ensure market risk are managed and communicated effectively to meet heightened regulatory expectations and requirements. This individual will manage a team and be effective in developing talents and delivering high quality results. The position will be located in New York, NY.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of capital markets and securities industry experience
  • 7+ years of leadership experience; including 3+ years of experience in a market risk function

Other Desired Qualifications
  • MBA, Master’s degree in finance or a quantitative discipline
  • Deep knowledge of the broad markets and financial products, esp. in Equity markets and products
  • Experience with Equity products valuation and market risk measurement calculations (e.g. pricing models, sensitivity measures, VaR, Stress scenario, performance analysis, P/L attribution, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate powerfully and prolifically to senior and executive leaders and simplify the complex
  • The role requires a leader with proven success in building partnerships, collaborating and influencing at senior levels and across lines of business
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
