Basic qualifications:

• Pharm D, PhD, M.P.H., M.S. or equivalent education
• Possesses solid knowledge of pharmacology and pharmacotherapy in humans and has experience practically applying this knowledge in a clinical setting.
• Previous clinical experience in situations where direct/or indirect decision making
authority for patient care was demonstrated is preferred (e.g. direct patient care, treatment protocol development, drug therapy guidelines development, traditional clinical pharmacy practice settings) or medical liaison experience.)
• Interpersonal skills in both one-on- one and group settings
• Above average computer literacy and willingness to utilize a variety of software applications.
• Experience operating in a highly dynamic, changing environment
• Ability to maintain a command of a large amount of scientific information across multiple therapeutic areas and show effective written/verbal communication skills
• Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships, and lead and influence key decision makers.
• Demonstrated customer-focus, problem solving abilities and strong conflict resolution skills
• Experience influencing internal research teams and communicating PBDM priorities and needs

Details:
Health Outcomes Liaisons serve as the first-line GSK strategic and tactical medical point of contact for a defined group of Regional, customers / US Population Based Decision Makers (PBDM). Provide scientific (clinical/health outcomes) information and support (across GSK-relevant therapeutic areas: specialty and general pharma) to key Regional health care PBDMs in a manner consistent with GSK's principles for scientific engagement. Inform evidence-based formulary, utilization and access decisions on GSK products or in GSK-relevant therapeutic areas. Health Outcomes Liaisons serve as the first-line GSK strategic and tactical medical point of contact for a defined group of Regional, customers / US Population Based Decision Makers (PBDM). Provide scientific (clinical/health outcomes) information and support (across GSK-relevant therapeutic areas: specialty and general pharma) to key Regional health care PBDMs in a manner consistent with GSK's principles for scientific engagement. Inform evidence-based formulary, utilization and access decisions on GSK products or in GSK-relevant therapeutic areas. Effectively and accurately communicate findings from clinical studies, pharmacology, pharmacokinetic, safety, observational research studies, including descriptive and comparative epidemiology, burden of illness studies, meta analysis, systematic reviews, and comparative effectiveness. Develop a deep understanding of US Population Based Decision Makers (PBDM) population-management strategies, scientific priorities and evidence needs, decision-making processes, and clinical perspectives on GSK products, therapeutic areas, and research. Leverage field-based Medical Matrix partners and internal R&D resources to meet PBDM's need for deep clinical or therapeutic expertise. Provide customer feedback internally to US Health Outcomes and Medical Matrix teams to influence the development of Regional PBDM-focused research agendas and programs. Engage a defined set of customers, when appropriate, in discussions related to collaborative research up to developing and submitting a concept for review and approval. • Experience and knowledge of government and private US Payer relationships and direct experience in a payer environment is strongly desired; Residency and/or post-doctoral training in a pharmaceutical industry/health system/payer setting is preferred
• Experience conducting research project s in a collaborative fashion with US PBDMs is highly desired
• Proven ability to work autonomously and independently with time management skills in order to effectively manage field-based responsibilities; Proven ability to work across a commercial and medical matrix team.
• Strong communication and strategic skills; demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for medical engagement and develop a set of strategic scientific engagement goals.
• Clear understanding of observational research methodologies and a demonstrated ability to translate real-world evidence, CER, and other observational research studies (including models) in an effective credible manner. Able to independently identify key take-aways from observational research or economic models.

Internal Stakeholders (R&D Sales and Marketing)
• Work with medical colleagues to identify External Experts, professional groups, decision makers and other key stakeholders in the assigned therapy area and or geography.
• Gather medical voice of the customer and construct and implement effective Medical Affairs strategy and planning through participation in or escalation to internal Medical Affairs teams.
• Provide documentation for all interactions with HCPs according to applicable policies.
• Provide scientific training for GSK sales representatives regarding GSK products and the conditions they treat utilizing approved Sales Training materials.
• Attend and contribute (if required) to the medical portion of regional account planning/training sessions.
• Attend both national and regional scientific/medical meetings to gain medical voice of the customer on recent data being presented on products and disease states of interest to GSK.
• Support clinical development activities and programs including GSK and Investigator sponsored studies as well as collaborating with R&D staff to improve site performance.

External Stakeholders (Accounts, Payers, External Experts , professional societies, advocacy groups, and formulary decision makers)

• Gather medical voice of customer and secure advice that informs and assists GSK in the development of medicines of value, for the ultimate benefit of patients.
• Conduct individual discussions and meetings with GSK-contracted clinical study investigators, steering committee members, advisory board members, consultants etc, on topics related to the work being conducted with GSK (e.g. for clinical research investigators, the conduct or publication of clinical research sponsored by GSK).
• To respond orally or by providing appropriate written materials to unsolicited requests for on- or off-label information or safety concerns that may have been asked of GSK sales staff or Medical and adhering to all policies and procedures regarding the provision of medical information
• Provide information in response to standing requests from external stakeholders (e.g. HCPs, formulary decision makers), when appropriate information becomes available.
• Deliver scientific / pipeline presentations to formulary committees and HCPs per documented unsolicited request.
• Provide general insight into GSK research interests and field inquiries regarding investigator sponsored scientific or clinical research projects and forward them to appropriate Medical Affairs staff for funding consideration.
• Participate in GSK-sponsored Advisory Boards as requested and in accordance with the applicable policies.
• Provide training to individual HCPs to prepare them to speak on behalf of GSK, and assist with GSK-sponsored speaker training events.
