The Health Policy and Reimbursement Senior Manager will support the US Health Policy & Reimbursement team's leads for Federal (US) payer issues across one or more Therapeutic Areas, Federal Agency Engagement, or Health Policy areas by (1) representing Federal (US) payer needs, (2) communicating about the payer planning process, and (3) managing assigned aspects of the Federal (US) payer engagement reimbursement, agency engagement, or health policy objectives.
He/she will work across functions to ensure a comprehensive view of the product and create and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders. These stakeholders include colleagues in US Government Affairs, the business units, Global Pricing and Market Access, US Value and Access, Reimbursement Access and Value teams, marketing, development, health economics, regulatory, and operations. Additionally, the individual will conduct relevant research and integrate clinical, market, and payer information to engage on reimbursement objectives.
The position is based at Amgen's site in Washington, D.C.
Doctorate degree and 2 years of health policy and/or reimbursement and/or market access experience
Master's degree and 4 years of health policy and/or reimbursement and/or market access experience
Bachelor's degree and 6 years of health policy and/or reimbursement and/or market access experience
Associate's degree and 10 years of health policy and/or reimbursement and/or market access experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of health policy and/or reimbursement and/or market access experience
Master's degree in health policy, business or related field of study
5+ years of experience in health policy and/or reimbursement and/or market access with a biotechnology/pharmaceutical company, provider or payer
Deep understanding of Federal (US) payer environment, including areas of (1) health care product and service coverage, reimbursement, coding, (2) health policy, (3) Federal (US) Executive and Legislative branch health care policy-setting authorities, processes, and responsible parties
Detailed understanding of Medicare and Medicaid statutes, regulations and sub regulatory guidance documents and policies
Federal agency engagement experience
Experience in reviewing clinical literature, including disease state information and target product profiles, in order to understand implications for payer actions and to develop submissions for payer engagement
Provider or payer experience desirable (direct or in a consulting capacity)
Experience in product commercialization (direct or in a consulting capacity)
Strategic planning and health policy experience
Strong project management skills with ability to work in a matrix environment
Demonstrated communication skills, including interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and oral/written presentation skills
