Eaton in Beltsville, MD has an opening for a Heat Treat Operator (Saturday-Tuesday from 7AM - 5:30PM).  Position is responsible for the set up and operation of heat treat furnaces, effectively use the digital chart recorders, rack all seals and operate ultrasonic tanks.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Takes a pro-active role with respect to process improvements and Kaizen activities
  • Willing to train and mentor lower level operators
  • Perform furnace quarterly uniformity surveys.
  • Perform system accuracy test.
  • Reads work order to determine processing specifications.
  • Must follow all operating procedures in accordance with Eaton Specifications P.S. 0880 and P.S. 85879
  • Sets frequency of current and automatic timer.
  • Ensure the correct date and time is recording on the controller chart at the start of each heat-treatment operation.
  • Verify the heat treatment cycle for correct temperature and time at temperature and cooling rate the end of each heat treatment operation. The review shall include that all thermocouples (hot, cold and control) were within tolerance limits during the cycle. The review shall be documented by identifying the controller charts with heat treat lot number, heat treat specification, date, time, temperature and heat treat operator stamp.
  • Verify that a record is maintained for all parts in each stress relief, anneal, solution treatment, and age load.
  • Assign a heat treat lot number to each stress relief, anneal, solution treatment, and age load
  • Perform and Document all daily and weekly functionality checks to verify the proper operation of instrumentation, condition of thermocouples and condition of furnace.
  • Reads production schedule to determine processing sequence and furnace temperature requirements for objects to be heat treated.
  • Be able to rack all seals prior to loading them into furnace.
  • Loads parts into racks, closes furnace door, and inserts parts into furnace when specified temperature is reached.
  • Reduces heat and allows parts to cool in furnace.
  • Tests parts for hardness, using hardness testing equipment, and stamps heat treatment identification mark on part.
  • Examines parts to ensure metal shade and color conform to specifications, utilizing knowledge of metal heat-treating.
  • Help in other cells as needed.
  • Occasionally pickup or drop parts from suppliers
  • Strictly maintain work order integrity by adhering to aerospace standards for documentation and part segregation.
Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Minimum one year experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.  Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of facility will be considered

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Minimum one year experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.  Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of facility will be considered

Position Criteria:
  • Operate machines, and any other calibration equipment such as calipers, Allen wrench, and air gun or any other equipment necessary to perform job functions.
  • Computer Skills required (Microsoft office, outlook, excel..)
  • Multi-tasking skills and a positive attitude towards tasks assigned
  • Displays leadership qualities with respect to 5S+
  • Encourages team work
  • Job requires lifting a minimum of 25lbs or up to 50lbs on a daily basis, as well as standing on feet 10 hours per day. Constant use of hands is essential.
  • Core shift for this position will be Saturday - Tuesday from 7am-530pm.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum one year heat treat experience
