Receives tissue specimens from clinical services and autopsy suite, determines if specimens are labeled as to type of specimens and assigns surgical pathology or autopsy accession number to specimens. Places specimens in proper fixation material. Assists the pathologist in gross dissection of tissue and submission of tissue for histology examination and checks for proper accession number. Process sections taken for microscopic examination through multiple phases required for preservation and fixation. Embeds and sections tissue and mounts on slides for examination. Performs all routine and special staining techniques of histology sections.
*Education: Associates degree in Histology or Natural Sciences;
*Experience One (1) year of related experience for each year of the required Education;
An equivalent combination of education and experience
** Need HT or HTL Certification
