The Merck Research Laboratories (MRL) Exploratory Science Center (ESC) Cambridge, a wholly owned subsidiary of Merck and Co., is focused on driving early discovery research. We are seeking innovative Biologists/Microbiologists to join the Merck Exploratory Science Center (ESC) in Cambridge, MA.
  • Successful candidate will become part of a creative and flexible team that will investigate host/pathogen interactions with the ultimate goal of delivering novel prophylactic or therapeutic interventions to address significant unmet medical need in infectious disease.
  • The team will pursue bacterial, fungal and/or viral pathogens as targets and employ multiple novel modalities, including small molecules, biologics and vaccines with an emphasis on harnessing the immune system to address serious infections.
  • Will leverage advances in immuno-biology and infectious disease research as well as new technologies, particularly novel biologic and vaccine technologies, to impact programs.
  • Expertise in microbiology and will be expected to understand and solve challenging issues independently and to show a high degree of innovation.



Qualifications:
Education:
  • Required: MS in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular biology or related discipline
  • Preferred: PhD
Required Experience:
  • Minimum of (2) years Postdoctoral or equivalent Industrial experience
  • Experience in Microbiology Research
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong history of publication in peer-reviewed journals
  • 15% Travel
Preferred Experience:
  • Knowledge of host immune responses to bacterial or fungal infection
