Current Need
Human Resources Development Program (HRDP) Associate

Position Description

The McKesson Human Resources Development Program is an exciting, two-and-a-half year development program, designed to develop top MBA/MLIR graduates into exceptional leaders who will make an impact on the future of healthcare. Associates will gain an understanding of the broad scope of McKesson’s business and HR Operating model through business unit rotations and HR functional roles.

The program consists of four rotations within a span of two-and-a-half years. This time is spent in a Center of Expertise role, a specialized role on our Shared Services team, a cross-functional rotation and a HR Business Partner role. For example, an Associate could work in a Talent Management team for 6-months, move into Employee Relations the next 6-months, do a Finance cross-functional rotation another 6-months and finish as an HR Business Partner within our McKesson Specialty division for 12-months, thus completing the program.

Through various HR business programs, processes and projects, our associates will have consistent and high exposure to the top business leaders throughout McKesson, in the form of end-of-rotation presentations to senior HR leadership or through working with them in a manager or sponsorship capacity.  Likewise, the program will enhance personal career development through direct senior leadership engagement, formal and informal feedback and mentoring and formal training and development integrated with McKesson’s Center for Learning.

In addition, Associates will build a strong knowledge of the business, products, technologies and services through various connectivity and knowledge sharing meetings and opportunities to get closer to different McKesson offices and distribution centers. Each year, Associates will partake in two business learning trips, within United States or in McKesson-established countries (i.e. Canada.) Associates will also have the opportunity to participate in site visits, annual events, and ongoing networking activities with other MBA students and HR peers.

  • Exposure to Talent Management/Org Design, Operational Excellence, HR Strategy, Organizational Culture and Change, and Business Acumen
  • Orientation program at McKesson headquarters with program peers
  • Regular learning and social events and bi-annual business education trips designed to connect Associates across different functional areas throughout McKesson
  • Challenging assignments in a variety of HR functions, potentially including Talent Management, Workforce Analytics, Compensation, Benefits, Employee Relations, Learning & Development, Organizational Design, Mergers & Acquisitions, Project Management, etc.
  • Exposure to and mentoring from Senior HR leaders within McKesson’s HR organization
  • Specific executive presence development during end-of-rotation presentations to senior HR leaders from across the company
  • Formal leadership training and foundational development (i.e. leadership workshops and trainings, Six Sigma black belt certification, etc.)
  • Inclusion in campus connectivity and/or recruiting to keep you involved in your alumni network
  • Ongoing feedback from you on improvements and upgrades to the program
  • Opportunities to connect with cross-functional Associates in other development programs
