Industrial Design Co-op
Your Challenge: The Industrial Design Co-op will be challenged to support the Industrial Design department. The candidate will contribute to the growth of Philips and Color Kinetics by being well versed in the solid state lighting and controls industry and will develop great products and push the envelope for product design, product branding, and innovation. Your Responsibilities: The Industrial Design Co-op is a hands-on contributing role and will be responsible for mechanical hardware and packaging conceptual design as well as user-interface and graphical elements for the software group. Creation of concepts, models, and presentations is a regular activity. Additionally, the Industrial Design group is responsible for overseeing product artwork and maintaining consistency across our product offering. Additional responsibilities include: Collaborate with the Product Development Group to create innovative conceptual designs of new products. Support the group via sketch development, form studies, human factors studies, concept rendering, market/application research and interpretation, etc. Create graphic presentations of conceptual designs for review and/or feedback from various internal and external groups, including Marketing, Sales and Customers/Clients. Final design presentations would be created to illustrate design intent to Vendors and Contract Manufacturers. Assist in building 3D models of designs, from initial form studies to working mechanical prototypes to visual presentation models, either in-house or through outside vendors. Support Mechanical Engineering team through the product development phase with the implementation of a design via CAD model generation, including surface definition and mechanical problem solving. Your Team: The Industrial Design Co-op will be part of the Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design Team and will be a contributor to drive innovative designs for product development. The Industrial Design Co-op will work in conjunction with the Mechanical Engineering, Product Marketing, and Advanced Development teams. Together, these teams have immense knowledge and experiences in system design for high profile products with critical Industrial Design influences. The Industrial Design Co-op will be a part of a collaborative team that is willing to work out details to ensure product branding according to the Industrial Design Team's visions. What We Are Looking For The Industrial Design Co-op position at PCK advocates the importance of design within the organization and maintaining a consistent brand image as it relates to product development and serves as a central point of contact for documenting various options in order to convey information enabling quicker decisions. The position requires creative problem solving and an appetite for pushing the limits to create specific customer value, identifying latent unmet needs and working within a fast paced environment. Responsibilities will be to work closely with the ID department and engineering organization on new product activities as an active member of the design team ensuring that there is a common consistent look and feel to the PCK products.
