Job Description:

3M is seeking an Industrial Hygienist for the Stationery and Office Supplies Division (SOSD) Plant located in Hutchinson, MN. Here, you go.

Job Summary:
The person hired for the position of Industrial Hygienist will be a member of the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team. This position requires working with the team to drive continuous improvement activities in industrial hygiene and ergonomics. Providing hands on support, auditing and maintaining the Industrial Hygiene plan in Hutchinson.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Leads incident investigations impacting employee health.
  • Develops and implements comprehensive industrial hygiene program consisting of such components as hearing conservation, respiratory protection and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), etc.
  • Manages all Industrial Hygiene (IH) related internal company requirements, i.e. Global Safety and Health Plan (GSHP) elements.
  • Conducts personal sampling to determine potential impact from environmental factors
  • Develops and conducts IH-related training.
  • Conducts Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) investigations and determines appropriate remediation.
  • Review new chemical compositions entering the facility for IH concerns.
  • Partner with the 3M engineering and industrial hygiene organizations on relevant programs and projects.
  • Monitor regulatory trends and activities related to industrial hygiene that could have an impact on the facility or operations.
  • Provide input for the annual EHS planning cycle related to industrial hygiene and ergonomics.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or science from an accredited university
  • Minimum of two (2) years of combined experience in a Safety and/or Environmental position with an emphasis on industrial hygiene

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, Public Health or related discipline from an accredited university
  • American Board of Industrial Hygiene, Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or willingness to obtain within the first eighteen (18) months of employment at 3M
  • Experience in a plant manufacturing environment
  • Experience in investigation of IAQ issues
  • Experience with an IH data management program (such as WorkCHEC-applies to internal applicants only)
  • Experience with a wide range of exposure assessment sampling methods and relevant analytical methods including real time instrumentation
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
  • Microsoft Office proficient

Location: Hutchinson, MN
Travel: May include up to 5% domestic
Relocation: Is authorized
