Participate in Information Analysis and Architecture Service initiatives that sustain or create innovative approaches to transfer, map, search, catalog or configure data and information. The responsibilities include creating or managing conceptual data models, logical data models, identification of data sources including the use of master data, creating data flow diagrams and other architectural types of models, managing reference data, and the associated taxonomies and semantic information. This role will focus on the Research and Development businesses and collaborate closely with Client Partners, Solutions Delivery and Global Business Intelligence Team members and Information Architects in other business areas. The role will contribute data and information analysis and information architecture services and solutions for projects such as the Next Generation Clinical Trials program, Scientific Data Cloud, and across the Medical and R&;D spectrum through internal and external influence, relationships, communications, and meetings. • Create or provide appropriate oversight on the creation of conceptual data models, logical data models, identification of data sources including the use of Master Data, data flow diagrams, definitions of business entities and terms, entity relationships, physical models, consumption models, data dictionaries and data description specifications • Shares overall, technical responsibility for the management, planning, design and implementation of WRDInformation Architecture Services • As part of the Information Architecture Team shares accountability for establishing and advocating the Information Architecture vision of intuitive access to data sources that are accurately and centrally catalogued, • Provide expertise and authority for one or more of the following: the definition, implementation and enforcement of all data standards including integration, lineage and documentation. • Continually review and suggest improvements for Information Architecture processes, policies, and vision and explores new and emerging technologies. • Contributes to the strategies and standards for Business Information integration and translates business requirements into data design requirements and subsequent data models. • Helps ensure reference data environments, as well as operational and analytical data warehouses, support cross functional business requirements for business reporting across the organization. • Basic abilities communicating the value of information architecture to both technical and business constituencies, both verbally and otherwise. • Helps develop guidelines and best practices to ensure data standardization and consistency. • Help maintain the repository of current conceptual logical models, data flow diagrams, meta data, known taxonomies, data source use, owners and high level description of terms to enable others to find them and re-purpose them in collaboration with the BI Referral Team. Assist Business Analysts and Business Partners conduct business analysis alongside BI colleagues with customer groups to define appropriate navigators/refiners/reference data on content repositories. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • Undergraduate degree related to information or computer science. • Two years' experience supporting the design or building of data and information strategies, architecture, modeling and database design, preferably enterprise level information /data solutions or architecture projects. • Demonstrated experience of full information lifecycle or social media information integration efforts in large scale programs. • Experience with one or more of the following database engines: Oracle 11, Informatica, and/or data modeling tools such as Erwin or SAP Power Designer,. Prior experience with BI Reporting tools, ETL metadata, application tuning and debugging. • Understanding of core ETL architectural principles such as modularity, restartability, parallelization and table driven business rules. • Understanding of information delivery architecture including the creation of abstraction layers, SQL query paths and optimization, report level calculations and end user reporting architecture • Understanding of the use of Taxonomy Management connectors and queries. • Experience using Big Data frameworks such as Hadoop and its associated tools (HBase, Hive, Spark, etc.) (desired) • Experience using NOSQL databases such as SAP Hana, MongoDB, Neo4j, etc. (desired) • Experience using cloud data warehouses such as Redshift and/or Snowflake (desired) • Exposure to or evidence of expertise in analytic methods and tools related to research and translational medicine, particularly around the secondary use of data, and knowledge of related regulatory and policy challenges (preferred) . • Experience in defining and enabling Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) (preferred). • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships. • Evidence of excellent skills in collaboration, teamwork, interpersonal skills, verbal and written communications, and customer focus. TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS • Familiarity with SQL, DQL, .NET • SAP Power Designer, Erwin modeling experience or equivalent. • Experience conceptualizing and executing information, catalog, reference and master/reference data environments and taxonomy projects strongly preferred. • Evidence of effectiveness at collaboration across organizational boundaries and significant external research/clinical/regulatory influence. • Evidence of hands-on, detailed oriented analysis and deployment and ability to prioritize issues and drive progress in ambiguous situations • Ability to interact comfortably with all levels of management and actively participate on leadership teams.
