Department Overview:
As part of JCI's Fire Protection Products, Learning & Development serves internal and external customers through a variety of L&D and performance support offerings. Providing these offerings is possible due to a larger process that analyzes the needs of targeted learners and their companies, designing the offerings to meet business objectives, developing and delivering the content in the most effective learning format, distributing it through the most effective means and, finally, evaluating its effectiveness over time to drive continual improvement for increased positive business impact.

What you will do:
Analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate technical training content for life safety products. Create classroom curricula and eLearning, such as web courses and job aids. Demonstrate and utilize effective needs analysis, project management, course design, and evaluation skills. Independently design courseware for a wide range of internal and external audiences. Utilize multimedia technology and authoring tools. Effectively collaborate with peers and across boundaries to determine customer requirements and the appropriate method of delivery.

How you will do it:
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SME) to analyze, design, and develop technical training content
  • Collaborate with an international team of experienced developers to create and/or repurpose content
  • Interpret technical documentation, functional specifications, and industry codes to make informed training decisions
  • Establish and maintain project schedules and deliverable deadlines
  • Work with management to communicate and mitigate concerns, risks, and issues
  • Represent the L&D Department on project teams
  • Follow established standards for the ADDIE training process, with an eye on process improvement where possible
  • Attend design reviews and product demonstrations
  • Update course information due to changes and new product introductions
  • Evaluate training by attending live sessions, conducting surveys, and meeting with customers on a regular basis to ensure their needs are being met
  • Lead the reduction of risk in the workplace according to Zero Harm policies and objectives

What we look for:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field, technical communications, or business administration. Master's Degree preferred.

A minimum of seven to ten years of experience in corporate Learning & Development function including product training, sales training, and professional skills development. International project collaboration experience with other L&D professionals and SMEs is preferred.

Technical Skills
  • Proficiency with Instructional Design and Courseware Development methods and principles
  • Strong PC skills and expertise in the Microsoft Office Suite (incl. Microsoft Visio), proficiency
    with Adobe Creative Cloud software also strongly preferred
  • Ability to understand and communicate concepts quickly and accurately
  • Accomplished facilitation and presentation skills for technical subject matter
  • Desire to continuously learn new features of development tools, software, and products
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize, schedule, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively collaborating on fast-paced, dynamic teams
