This Instructional Designer role will be responsible for the design, development and light facilitation of a diverse set of learning materials to support our Capital One Investing line of business. This individual will partner closely with key business partners to translate business intent into engaging learning materials, with a focus (though not exclusively) on digital-first learning methods. This individual will analyze learning needs, design and develop blended learning solutions, and do some in-person facilitation.  S/he will be Proficient with editing and adding basic multimedia assets to educational content. This includes images, audio and video clips, and other graphical content. Capable of designing linear e-learning layouts that use best practices to introduce, reinforce, and remediate information.


-Designand develop learning materials/tools, from ideation to evaluation

-Leverage effective needs analysis, project management, course development, and evaluation skills

-Solid understanding and proven application of adult learning principles

-Create curriculum roadmap's and menus and recommend the optimal blend and supporting rationale

-Determine,recommend, and document project instructional standards and strategies, learner engagement strategies, and evaluation plan

-Video and digital storyboarding, design and development

-Leveragegamification and rich media to enhance the learner experience

-Design content, including (but not limited to) measurable learning objectives, leaders and participant materials and tools, experiential scenarios and simulations, assessment and evaluation questions

-Develop online learning solutions which are engaging and creative, while still maintaining the instructional integrity and validity of the solution

-Represent learning in broader project efforts, ensuring an early focus on the implementation needs to ensure effective delivery in alignment with project timeline goals

-Engage with team members to enable clarity of goal; conduct on-going reviews to ensure outcome on track to meet needs

-Participate in Train-the-Trainer activities

-Partner with other content developers to support material development needs, as appropriate

-Ability to make decisions by identifying issues, diagnosing problems, generating alternative solutions and analyzing opportunities and risks

-Ability to set and achieve challenging individual goals that support department and business goals

-Ability to take responsibility for projects and follow-through to completion with minimal need for direct supervision

-Connect and justify creative design decisions to business impact

-Create compelling deliverables with minimal supervision or direction

-Work ethic that embraces tight deadlines, accountability, and reliability

-Comfortablecommunicating with managers

-Collaborationacross functions and levels


- Proficient with the following Adobe Creative Cloud programs: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign

- Intermediate to expert on eLearning Module Development with: Articulate Storyline, Microsoft PowerPoint, TechSmith, SnagIt, Camtasia Studio and Captivate


-Bachelor's degree or military experience

- At least 2 years of experience in Instructional Design or at least 2 years of experience in Graphic Design or at least 2 years of experience in Multimedia Design or at least 2 years of experience in Visual Communications

- At least 1 year of experience in Facilitation


-3+ years of experience in Instructional Design or 3+ years of experience in Graphic Design or 3+ years of experience in Multimedia Design or 3+ years of experience in Visual Communications

-2+ years of experience in Facilitation
