MetLife’s Global Government Relations organization is offering a paid summer internship (full or part time) for an undergraduate student in the Washington DC area. The start and end dates are flexible. The selected intern would become a member of MetLife’s Global Government Relations team, which forms part of the Corporate Affairs organization in the company.



The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and oral communication skills, proficient computer skills, the ability to work independently and in teams, and have strong research and organizational skills with a keen eye to detail. The candidate will assist with select ongoing projects, structured as both independent work and collaborative team efforts, and perform responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Conduct and provide research and analysis on a wide variety of insurance, regulatory, legislative, political and financial services topics.
  • Assist Global Government Relations team members with coordination and preparation of meeting briefs, presentations, updates, and reports.
  • Support communication, document development, and other projects that reinforce MetLife’s general government relations efforts.
  • Support MetLife’s Grassroots and Political Action Programs as needed.

  • Sound judgment, professionalism and discretion
  • Experience with Microsoft Office toolset, especially Excel, Outlook, Word, and SharePoint


Candidates must be current undergraduate students interested in working as part of a team on insurance and financial services topics that are managed by the Global Government Relations function. Interns are supervised by project-specific managers and will report to a member of the Global Government Relations team. In addition to the expectations outlined in the description, efforts are made to match work projects with the intern's particular study interests where possible. Successful candidates must be highly motivated, exercise effective judgment and have strong analytical abilities.
