Johnson & Johnson is currently recruiting for an IT Lead, AWS Service Specialist.  This is a position with global focus and will be based in Somerville, NJ.


Johnson & Johnson Application Services IT is recruiting for an IT Lead in Information Technology to drive initiatives supporting AWS Data & Analytics Services.  We are looking for an Amazon Redshift Architect/DBA who can manage our rapidly growing Redshift database.  Work to be done includes capacity planning, system and query tuning and implementation of Production Redshift systems in support of the Enterprise One MD Program and other J&J platforms as needed. The IT Lead will be managing and directing the work of several offshore and onsite Redshift architects from various vendors.


This platform, and its associated applications, leverages key enterprise technologies including Redshift, Tableau, Talend, Amazon S3 storage and other components of the Amazon AWS Ecosystem.


The candidate will become part of the Global AS organization, responsible for technology architecture of our Redshift databases and will be a hands-on technical leader with focus on developing and enhancing technical and business partner relationships.  The candidate should have strong communication skills (written and presentation). The candidate will be required to provide subject matter expertise working directly with business partners, contractors, and other J&J organizations. 

 
Responsibilities
  • Redshift architecture and design experience.
  • Database design and Physical data modelling
  • Partner with the business partners and AS Architecture teams to manage the overall AWS and Redshift demand & continously manage business partner expectations.
  • Lead efforts to standardize processes and technologies across the Amazon ecosystem globally.
  • SQL Query tuning in a Redshift data warehouse environment.
  • AWS Platform Architecture and management.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance to junior team members.
  • Past experience with other RDBMS (Oracle, MySQL, AWS-RDS etc.,) is needed.
  • Deep prior expertise in data warehousing and big data environments, with proven successful implementations.
  • Prepare and deliver regular updates and communications (verbal and written) to the Business and IT Leadership teams, and extended business partners.
  • Understand and define business drivers, requirements definition, design gap analysis, prototyping, execution and deployment activities.
  • Lead projects of medium to high complexity, and act as Liaison between the various IT organizations to ensure successful delivery of initiatives to the business partners.
  • Ensure Service Level Agreements are established and meet expectations of the business partners.
  • Perform analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance activities.
  • Actively participate as core team member for key business/IT initiatives.
  • Participate in the business planning activities by identifying future business demand and ensuring appropriate funding is in the business plan. 
  • Provide coaching/guidance to peers, junior team members, co-ops and/or consultants.
  • Consistently demonstrate knowledge seeking and sharing behaviors across IT organizational boundaries in the performance of daily work and encourage junior associates to do the same.
  • Apply principles, concepts, and practices of the J&J Leadership Imperatives.
  • Ensure that J&J information assets are appropriately identified and valued, and are protected by complying with and enforcing all local and worldwide security policies.
  • Ensure that security is considered and emphasized in all IT plans and actions.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 8 years of IT experience is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of database Administration is required.
  • Understanding of differences between RDBMS and Columnar databases is required.
  • Hands-on experience supporting large databases and data warehouses is required.
  • Agile experience and exposure is a strong plus.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud environments is required.
  • Supporting reporting tools like Tableau/Spotfire or Qlik is a strong plus.
  • Experience with ETL tools like Talend/Informatica is a strong plus.
  • A demonstrated working knowledge of core application development principles and J&J SDLC methodology is preferred.  
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and manage work in accordance with full system lifecycle (SDLC) from concept to production deployment is preferred.
  • Experience implementing global process/systems is preferred.
