Medical Devices, a division of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is recruiting for a IT Senior Director R&D Technical Operations. This position is located in Somerville, NJ and reports to the VP, Medical Devices IT-R&D.

Medical Devices represents more than 60 manufacturing sites and 26,000 employees who plan, source, manufacture and deliver high-quality and cost-effective medical products to our customers around the globe each day. Work of the MD organization supports a multitude of product platforms, new products and delivery systems that are used in a wide range of procedures throughout the healthcare industry, including interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, minimally invasive surgery, hospital sterilization, clinical laboratory testing, diabetes management, joint replacement surgery and vision care.
With substantial investment committed to building and coalescing technology platforms for Medical Device Sector, the company seeks a strong leader with a stellar track record of executing large scale technology infrastructure projects serving businesses under transformation. This is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing, tracking and delivering multiple product lines to enable Medical Device R&D teams with foundational and converged platforms. An ideal candidate will have depth and breadth of experience in aligning key stakeholders (R&D product development, portfolio management, regulatory affairs, clinical research, medical affairs, operations, and quality), leading cross-functional IT teams and outstanding program management skills to set plans, intervene, course correct and flawlessly finish time-critical milestones.
The incumbent leader must have delivered projects that are multi-year in nature and possess an ability to balance immediate term and long-term goals. Tech savvy and process driven, this leader has to be extremely comfortable in a new environment, leverage experience to anticipate challenges and ready to respond with agility. Medical Device R&D technology product lines experience is invaluable, yet, the ability to learn rapidly and leverage experts to deliver results is important.
•Drive key Medical Device R&D IT Product Lines and special initiatives with high quality, on time and on budget. Develop program plans, oversee execution of large project portfolio, implement Agile development methodology, lead a team of senior product line owners, partner with several R&D functional groups and deliver cadence of products.
•Build an exceptional team to serve Medical Device R&D business by attracting, mentoring and retaining talent within IT
•As part of IT-R&D leadership team, provide advocacy at Enterprise IT levels to leverage processes, products and people
•Deep understanding of product development lifecycle, strong knowledge of core technical platforms including product lifecycle maintenance, considerable knowledge of healthcare, processes, management, budgeting and business office operations.
•Experience with running Agile project teams, excellent written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment, exceptional service orientation, strong negotiating skills.
•Able to create context around key business drivers and strategic plan, able to present ideas in business-friendly and use
•Master’s degree required preferably in the field of Computer Science or Engineering or an MBA with technology program leadership
•15+ years managing/directing technical teams with at least 10+ years in IT with exemplary record of leading and delivering complex technology platform projects
•5 years experience in a PMO environment required
•5 years hands on experience driving Agile methodology in a GxP compliant environment is required
•PMP certification is highly preferred
•10 years people management experience is required
•Experience running agile project teams is required
•10% travel may be required
