Role Summary:

GE Power seeks a Java Developer, DevOps. This individual will be developing automated solutions for cloud infrastructure and platforms which support enterprise applications.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Java Developer - DevOps will:

+ Architect and develop new or enhance existing front-end portal for cloud provisioning, continuous integration and dev ops.

+ Deliver iterations on specific release cycles

+ Develop comprehensive code comment and code documentation

+ Work with different teams to understand integrations with GE systems

+ Promote test driven development practices within the team, ensuring that unit test and acceptance tests are implemented to confirm that acceptance criteria are met

+ Support the automation ecosystem and related build and operational activities

+ Work as part of a scrum team and develop accurate work estimates, comprehensive code comments and code documentation

+ Provide technical guidance to other support teams and architects

+ Provide timely and appropriate communication to business owners, stakeholders, and users on issue status and resolution

+ Prototype creative solutions quickly, and be able to guide the team in crafting and implementing

+ Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies

+ Responsible for full life cycle of Cookbooks, scripts and other automations

+ Work with different teams to understand integrations with GE systems

+ Ensure software quality assurance and adherence to standards and processes

+ Drive efficiency and effectiveness in automation scripts

+ Understand customer requirements and contribute to the development solutions and projects

+ Create documentation and participate in requirements gathering, design and code reviews

+ Performs defect corrections for ensuring quality

+ Evaluate and implement new cloud based services

Qualifications/Requirements:

+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university or an Associate's Degree with 2 years of experience in IT

+ Minimum 3 years of Object Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Design Patterns and Java coding principles

Desired Characteristics:

+ Excellent oral and written communication skills

+ Proficient with Java, JavaScript Object Notation (JSON), GIT, Jenkins and Yum

+ Experienced with Amazon AWS, Verizon, Azure and/or other cloud providers

+ Strong analytical and problem solving skills Strong Technical project management skills

+ Ability to manage multiple projects at one time

+ Experienced working on SCRUM / Agile team

+ Strong team player - collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources

+ Experience working with REST or Soap APIs

+ Experience with cloud provider SDKs and/or CLIs

+ Experience with orchestration tools for Cloud

+ Strong background in Eclipse plugins development

+ Familiarity with SOA, Cloud Computing and SW design principles related to SOAP/REST Web Services

+ Knowledge of infrastructure automation and infrastructure as software concepts

+ Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or equivalent quality certification
