Working within the Reliability Maintenance environment, performs preventive maintenance, modifies, installs, and maintains company machinery systems and provides training in the implementation and operation of those systems in compliance with company standards and procedures and government regulations (SOPs, GMPs, GLPs, PSM, etc). Can serve as a maintenance advisor in areas of engineering (process design, material selection, documentation, calibration, testing and problem solving methodology, project scope and follow up). Responsible for priority assessment and decision making as it relates to troubleshooting, diagnostics, assembly, repair, and a proactive maintenance of systems and equipment in a cost effective manner. Large rooftop units, split systems, reciprocating chillers, low temp experience a plus, controls experience a plus. Ability to troubleshoot HVAC-R controls and systems is required. Technical and operational knowledge of water cooled chillers is preferred, particularly large tonnage reciprocating and screw chillers. This position has the potential for exposure to hazardous materials, heights, temperature extremes, equipment in motion, dusty and dirty conditions, stooping, bending and heavy lifting. Participates in multi-craft work activities as required.
Works with engineering, maintenance, and utilities staff/technicians, operations coordinators and operators, environmental health & safety, and external EMU partners (projects and repairs).
May be exposed to hazardous materials, heights, temperature extremes, equipment in motion, noisy, dusty and dirty conditions, stooping, bending and heavy lifting. Participates in multicraft work activities as required.
Heavy emphasis on refrigeration knowledge and theory, knowledge of constant volume VAV systems, large rooftop units, split systems, reciprocating chillers, control systems, HEPA filtration, particulate sensing, water cooled chillers, and compressor overhauls.
(Journeyman HVAC/R)-Skilled craftsman in trade and prefer a minimum of a 2 year technical degree. 3 years related experience in HVAC-R mechanical equipment service industry required. Universal EPA certification. Good verbal and written communication skills. Self starter with ability to work independently.
Potential for exposure to hazardous materials, heights, temperature extremes, equipment in motion, dusty and dirty conditions, stooping, bending and heavy lifting.
The proper use of the correct Personal Protective Equipment for each task as well as compliance with all applicable safety Standard Procedures is a must.
