Job Description - Jr Project Manager, SUN Core Platform
 The Weather Company, an IBM Business, is seeking a Jr Project Manager to join the SUN Core Software Engineering team. SUN is a cloud-based platform that serves the purpose of ingesting, storing, queuing, metering, and distributing various types of data through RESTful API services.  The SUN Platform ingests more than 60TB of data per day and serves 10 Billion requests per day. The SUN Core team has a particular focus on building the foundational infrastructure and services to allow clients to build additional microservices on top to serve more specific business needs.  
The ideal candidate will be a recent grad looking for their start or someone with 1-3 years of IT project management experience.  The selected candidate will need to be able to have excellent organizational and communication skills.  We value talented people who are awesome at managing multiple projects with a positive attitude.As the Jr Project Manager, you will primarily work alongside the Portfolio Manager in addition to some work with project managers, development teams, and product managers.

 Minimum Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree or similar combination of education and experience
  • Flexible, ability to change priorities quickly
  • Exceptional organization and time-management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Must have a familiarity of project management concepts and techniques, using a variety of methodologies
  • Other duties as assigned, such creating spreadsheets, running reports, scheduling meetings
  • Ability to work with cross functional teams (Development, QA, Dev-Ops, Product Manager) and with other business/technology groups within an organization
  • Demonstrates comfort in a fast-past, delivery execution environment where priorities shift frequently
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of personnel(developers, business teams, management)
  • Must possess great interpersonal and group communication skills and must be a team player with a terrific attitude
 Preferred Qualifications and Technology Experience - The more the better
  • Experience with project management tools such as MS Project or Smartsheet
  • Experience or familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  • Experience with software such as Trello, JIRA, or the like
  • Experience working with software programming projects, highly preferred
  • Keeping up to date on IT Project Management, recommending and applying new concepts
  • Scrum certification a plus
  • Familiar with professional software engineering practices using such tools and methodologies as Agile Software Development, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Source Code Management (git), Jira, and GitHub
