The Enterprise Publishing team has a unique opportunity for Application Developers to support our ongoing investment and modernization of our Publishing platform. We are continuing to invest in and drive efficiencies in our printed and digital capabilities leveraging current best in class software products. Overview of the position:
As a Technical Developer on the Enterprise Publishing team, you will play a key role in developing key technical components supporting our print and digital publishing capabilities/environments across the enterprise. Working under the guidance of Senior Developers and Tech Leads, you will take on varied assignments that are challenging and support key strategies aligned to drive the success and profitability of the lines of business we support. You will have opportunities to build your technical knowledge of our Publishing platform tools which includes Open Text's xPression, xCP, and Enterprise Content Management (Documentum). Java applied knowledge or accredited course study in Java is required. Database experience is also preferred with specific experience in Oracle being a plus. The ideal candidate will be able to quickly adapt to new software tools and be analytical in the application of solutions going forward. We have embraced Agile project execution methodologies and your ability to effectively work in a group, collaborating with effective communication skills is essential.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Effectively building and delivering application components under the supervision of a Technical Lead or Lead Developer
  • The ability to develop quality code, test, participate in code walkthroughs, support implementation and solve technical issues quickly and accurately
  • Learning new technologies through partnering with team members, self-study, formal training, and other means provided by management
  • Supporting project deliverables from a technical perspective that may be outside of your assigned body of work
  • Participate in team meetings and offer input in solving technical issues and challenges
  • Support partner organizations including but not limited to QA, Environmental Engineering, Performance Testing, Database, Production Support teams and others as required
  • Ensuring that technical documentation and technical artifacts are accurately prepared, maintained, and cataloged
  • Constructing a technical specification document and component-level design that is re-usable, efficient, and enables the stated business goals

  • College Students graduating in December 2017 or May 2018
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Technology (or similar) preferred
  • Java programming experience or accredited training (required)
  • 1 year of development experience desired
  • Other technology experience or training desired: AXIS2 or Spring framework, DB (Oracle or SQL Server), Object Oriented application development in a structured environment with a defined software development lifecycle
  • Other qualifications that are a plus: Experience or training in Publishing platform tools, Experience in xPression and/or XCP, Enterprise Content Management, including Documentum
  • Strong written and verbal communication along with the ability to effectively collaborate is required
  • Exposure to or experience in Agile team structures is also a plus
  • Other technical experience/exposure that is a plus: HTML, XHTML, XML, XSLT, CSS, SQL DB, Java MDB, Web Services, Servlets, JBOSS, WebLogic, UNIX
