+ Inspect and sew or punch in missing yarn on rugs and carpet, reconstructing design as necessary.
+ Operate controls to run carpet over powered mending table.
+ As necessary, inform servicing personnel to remove or replace truckloads of carpet for processing.
+ Record various information on production sheets, batch sheets, and register cards as required by supervisor.
+ Reset roll measurement dial to measure production.
+ Clean grease spots from roll with cloth and cleaning fluid.
+ Clip loops on carpet face. Cut repaired ends to normal pile height and trim as necessary to yeild proper pattern appearance.
+ As instructed by supervision, pull out knotted yarn, wrong spools, blocked pattern and crossed lines. Punch in correct color yarn to recreate patter appearance.
+ On back of rugs , pick out tucks, knots, waste, grease spots, and double ends using mending pick.
+ Inspect and repair carpet streaks - pile wire, cutter, color, low rows, poor quality yar, reeling knots, etc.. Consult questionable items with supvisor.
+ Repair broken filling and warp as required by supervisor.
+ As instructed, use hot melt glue gun to repair defects.
+ Secure yarn for own work or other Menders from storage area according to lot or pattern number as requested by supervisor. Cut yarn into short lengths as needed.
+ Rework returned rugs. Pick out waste and tucks; wet out curled ends with sponge and clip.
+ If supervisor and/or Inspector is not available, measure streaks of yarn to be punched in and record on batch sheet.
+ Keep work area neat and orderly.
+ Inventory mending yarn daily. Secure new yarn from Winding and/or Weaving Departments and aside old yarn to winding waste as requested by supervisor.
+ Work with Inspector as required on Mender related duties.
+ As necessary, adjust roller on Mending table to repair various defects (roller slides and requires very little physical exertion).
+ As required, make necessary repairs to carpet / rugs as related to this process, to insure first quality work. Inform supervisor of any material not considered first quality and initial quality cards accordingly (department leader or manager will classify as to proper quality classification).
+ Notify supervision of any hazardous or unsafe conditions.
+ Wear approved personal protection devices as directed by supervision.
+ Work in a safe and orderly manner at all times.
+ Perform miscellaneous work pertaining to the above duties.
+ Must be at least 18 years old.
+ High School diploma / GED equivalence preferred.
+ Must be able to distinguish color.
+ Must be able to use both hands when mending.
+ Must be able to use scissors.
+ Must be able to take direction and work with others to obtain supplies.
+ Must be able to follow attendance policy.
+ Must be able to follow all safety / Personal Protective Equipment policies.
+ Experience in Mending a Plus.
