Lab Assistant Supervisor
Visiting Physicians Association, a national leader in delivering home based primary care, works with home health and hospice agencies to ensure patients receive continuity of care in the home environment. VPA in-home physicians collaborate with agencies to establish in-home treatment plans and certify the need for services. VPA partners with over 1,000 home health agencies, collaborates with independent and assisted living communities, and works with skilled nursing facilities and hospitals nationally to coordinate services and patient transitions to home care.
The Lab Assistant Supervisor will oversee the day to day process of the Accessioning area.
  • Day to day supervision of the Accessioning area
  • Will participate in the accessioning and specimen handling process as needed
  • Responsible for generation and distribution of Quality Assurance statistics:
    • Daily lab totals
    • Weekly RVU Reflex report
    • Month end Satellite Lab draws report
    • Month end Lab totals report
    • Month end No/Orders Verify/Orders report-distributes
    • Month end Specimen adequacy report
    • Assist with creation and maintenance of Excel spreadsheets as needed
  • Maintains CLIA requirements by:
    • Assisting with any additional QA statistics as needed
    • Updating up to 27 Lab Manuals
  • Maintains employee file documentation:
    • Training Documentation
    • Continuing Education
    • Maintaining Certificates, diplomas, and registry
    • OSHA quarterly meeting documentation
    • Annual Biohazard training documentation
    • Organizes and schedules 90 day and yearly evaluations
  • Maintains a centrifuge inventory for all satellite offices and/or delegate as needed
  • Assists in the evaluation of all Lab assistants
  • Creates schedules for Lab Assistants
  • Assists with organizing and copying Physician packets for semi-annual Lab Medical Director's semi-annual conferences
  • Assists Lab Medical Director with coordination of travel as needed
  • Manages the maintenance and repair of all office equipment i.e. fax, printers, copiers
  • Communicates with Lab Manager about problems of an unusual nature and disseminates necessary information
  • Understands and is supportive of philosophy, purpose, and policies of VPA
  • Promotes cost consciousness and maximum utilization of supplies
  • Abides by Lab/regulatory policies
  • Uses universal precautions at all times
  • Maintains a professional atmosphere
  • Manages the maintenance and repair of all office equipment i.e. fax, printers, copiers
  • Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
  • 2 years of laboratory training or experience, or both in high complexity testing
