Lab Medical Tech
Full Time - Days
Sunday - Thursday
11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Performs specimen collection, processing and testing of all types of body fluids. Utilizes applications and principles and techniques of laboratory technology to produce and report reliable test results in a timely, cost effective manner. Performs instrument function checks and preventative maintenance procedures according to department's policies and procedures. Maintains compliance with policies, procedures and record keeping necessary to meet standards of accrediting and regulatory agencies. Documents and updates instrument procedural calibrations and maintenance. Participate in proficiency survey testing. Identifies problems that may adversely affect performance of reporting test results and corrects problems. Teaches new employees and students laboratory policies and procedures. Performs other duties as requested or required. Maintains all annual competency requirements. Maintains confidentiality of all information.

Education: Either: A) Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, laboratory science, chemical, physical or biological science. B) Associate Degree in Medical Technology, laboratory science, chemical, physical or biological science. C) Education AND training equivalent to an associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology:
Education - 60 semester hours including either 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses (6 hours of chemistry; 6 hours of biology, and 12 ours in chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology, or any combination
Training - either completion of an approved/accredited clinical laboratory training program, which may be included in the 60 semester hours specified above or at least three months of documented laboratory training in each specialty in which the individual performs high complexity testing.
Experience: New graduates to multiple years of experience
Licenses/Certificates: Registered or Registry eligible as a MLT(ASCP)
