**Job Description:** Job Role: Manager, Lab Operations (Durham) GENERAL SUMMARY Manages engineers performing multiple and varied engineering tasks and specialties. Responsible for developing work plans, establishing technical objectives and assigning tasks. Monitors the completion of tasks within time and cost constraints and ensures that technical and functional objectives are met. Identifies and recommends changes to established practices and policies. Regularly interacts with supervisors, peer managers, and employees within and beyond a particular function. Requires in-depth technical and operational knowledge within area of responsibility. Often plays a proactive role in developing and applying new approaches to data center management. Authorizes the resources necessary to achieve organizational goals. Participates in, and is accountable for, cross-functional initiatives and collaboration, which may have significant impact on business results. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Oversees, manages while maintaining a global perspective; Responsible for developing work plans and providing direction to Engineering data center teams; Dedicated to run, maintain, and support the data center infrastructure requirements that meet short and long term business goals • Priorities, unified standards, policies and procedures. • Interfaces with senior management to report on project and program milestones and to present project needs; Works with internal customers to define requirements and resolve problems. • Operational Excellence – Operational metrics that communicate the state of the data centers, from infrastructure to projects. Report on the ROI for the requested budget. • Responsible for managing data center budget, including forecasting and managing within budget • Leverages all organizational resources to effectively support a 7x24x365 data center operation focused on global internal customer/client satisfaction • Reviews opportunities and proposals for continuous; Plays a proactive role in developing and applying Best in Class approaches/practices to data center management • Manages data center infrastructure design and support, working with engineers to design and/or expand an existing one; Interfaces with Facilities to ensure data center HVAC/electrical infrastructure provides appropriate support of Engineering data centers • Ensures data center access security policies are adhered to • Keeps abreast of current and emerging IT technologies SKILLS & EXPERIENCE • Proficiency in hardware, software and/or operating systems environments. • Proficiency in Networking design, implementation and support. • Ability to lead, motivate and direct a workgroup. • Ability to influence others to achieve results. • Problem solving skills. • Ability to drive accurate and timely decisions. • Project management skills. • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment. • Time management skills. • Mentoring/Coaching skills. • Presentation skills. • Communication skills. • Negotiation skills. • Ability to drive accurate and timely decisions. • Ability to work effectively with senior management.
